But the Bluebird Classic starts us off this Sunday…
Thanks for starting the thread. It's been a gravel bike kind of spring. Quick Q: where do you find that status listing that you shared the image of on the MBT page?
I made the mistake of trying to ride Bovine on a weekend a couple of years ago when nothing else was open. Friday morning was empty, Saturday morning was damn near parking limited.

Got my GF out for her first trail ride on Sunday, to say it went well would be an understatement! She killed it!

Yeah, Baby! Hope she liked Bovine!
We’re planning to come down for Dirt Diggler this weekend. Sounds like there’s just enough opening up to bother bringing bikes.
Stoked for Dirt Diggler!
In other local bike news, One Hour of 5th Street is in the spring this year:

Just like the last three years I'll have free beer and chocolate milk for all spectators and participants. Registration is free, we've got a new race format premiering this year, and we've got an even bigger flock of stoked (and sketchy) youths coming to throw down. Come spectate and check out the raffle, prizes are already stacking up, and all proceeds go to a scholarship fund for young racers. Even if you don't feel like riding, it's pretty wild watching the kiddos throw down!
A-Mazing out there this afternoon….https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f103cfd4d4.jpg

Damn, will be in Vernal :(.
Bummed.
Here's the link to the trail conditions report:
https://www.mountainbiketetons.org/c...ail-conditions
Rode Channel Lock, Bovine and Southbound Saturday, fully dry. Sharks belly gets muddy as you get towards the N. end. Aspen trail this morning was perfect, but it was probably the busiest I've ever seen it.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Dirt Diggler, it was a great success. And kudos to Mitch for making that happen and being such a connector to all our regional neighbors.
Hell yeah, Mitch! Really wish I could have attended.
PSA: MBT shows Ferrin's open, but keep in mind it's pretty nasty up top still. Plan on turning around right when you exit the trees. Also, anyone ridden PuttPutt above the wiggle yet?
Rode Hagen-Putt Putt Wednesday. Usual (really) small spots of mud, but totally G-T-G otherwise. And it appears that the annual horse jackasses didn’t go stomp it up in the muck this year, bonus. I believe they usually do it once or twice early out of spite, but maybe they just don’t think about it.

Bumping this thread cause I had to scroll way down to find it. Lots of trail mileage opening up lately. In addition to the regular Teton Valley low hanging fruit, I have ridden a Grove/ Corral/ Red loop, South Fork Horseshoe, and out and back Mahogany. Mail Cabin still has snow and downed trees in the north switchbacks, and it looks like Arrow is clear to the creek. Sounds like FOP is still working on both Phillips trails...
Nice, thanks for the update. Hopefully I can get up there soon and ride with you guys.

Thanks for the bump!
I heard from an unreliable source that South Fork was a mud fest, even when other things were dry. How was it when you rode it?
Friends rode Phillips Ridge Sunday, said it was good to go, but we do keep getting bursts knocking trees down. Lithium goes if you like walking in snow. Lower section is all clear, no downed trees as of Saturday. Moved three downed trees off the "Phillips Connector" trail that connects Old Pass Road to the Phillips parking lot on Saturday, for folks who like pedaling Jimmy's laps, instead of shuttling.
I'm pretty stoked on the continued wet weather, keeps refreshing the dirt just as it starts to get crappy.

I walked through/ around 3-4 mud spots in the usual spots on South Fork Horseshoe. Notably, the horses and motos hadn't torn it up too badly.

Has anyone hit Phillips Canyon, Lithium or Black Canyon yet?
I don't know about Lithium- check the FOP site for that one, but I know for sure that Phillips Ridge and Canyon, plus Arrow/ Snotel, are all good to go. TFR pass bash is this coming Saturday; here's a screenshot

Heard they cleared Phillips Canyon and Ridge, but that there has possibly been more blowdown since then due to a wind event. In my personal experience, Lithium and Black’s are rarely a go (without postholing) for another week or ten days, July 4th or so seems to be the consistent date. But please post up if anyone has better beta!

anyone know what the Mill Creek status is? heading up to Targhee next wknd and hoping to get some laps in on it.
Mill is good to go. Lots of closures up there for the new lift though. I've heard conflicting info on what's gonna be open as far as traversing from the base area to the top of Mill. Colter's is definitely closed though.
I hiked up Lithium on Saturday to the top of the woods section. And according to Instagram a bunch of people rode it from the top the same day. Saw zero snow, no blowdown either. Rode up Blacks about the same distance. Yep, there will definitely be some post-holing on the ridge, but the trails themselves seem good to go both from my experience, and according to the social medials.
I agree, July 4 is usually the "Lithium goes without swearing too much at snow" deadline.
Ya it's good to go, but there are limited ways to get there due to the new Peaked lift. AJ's is open but there's too much snow in Andy's still, then 38 and Colter's are closed for now- only way down to Mill Creek from the top is Rocky Mountain Way, or Cold Springs.
I ran into Andy out in the Bigholes and he says there will ultimately this summer be reroutes on Colters and 38 as well as occasional closures when they are flying lift pieces around. I am ok with that, haha.
Over and out. Going to ride my bike over in the Centennials...
Thanks for the beta, all. I kept checking the MBT site and it still showed the June 3rd conditions. Now it shows updated (of course).
Bummed to miss the pass bash, I've never been able to join one for one reason or another. Riding Around the Rock again this year. If anyone else is going, say hi. I'll be hard to miss in the pink sweet cheeks jersey on red salsa warbird.
FWIW, since I asked the Q here: I rode Black's yesterday, so assume Lithium the same. Three patches of snow left on the climb, easy to walk over (not around) and the descent was clean.
Want to send a big shout out to BYNF crews, everything, and I mean everything, has been cleared here on the JH side. It has been wonderful.
But I don’t want to talk about the brutal grooming of the (climbing) Hoback trail at Teton Village. From what I can tell, it is now an Uber-beginner/kids XC dh trail. That was a bit of a bummer.
Red Creek loop in excellent form. Did I mention the flowers?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...98ae80b4e6.jpg

Just an FYI, I believe every ‘No Ebikes’ sign has been taken down on Teton Pass. (At least I didn’t see any) Anyone know what’s up with that?
Insurrectionists, or a shift?
Around here the mopeders deface or remove every sign they see. The trail org put a request on their website asking people to stop, but it clearly hasn't worked.
I bet those idiots think that they can legally drive 450 mph when they add a spray painted 0 to a speed limit sign.
If’n you are planning to do Skyline soon, wait a few days. There were about seven trees down on the East-West (down to Game Creek Divide) section. Blowin’ my Strava, Yo! ;)
rideit- I was just about to do that ride, so thanks for the beta. Up game down wilson it is
Latest word is that Mail Cabin to Mike Sell is 98%, still a few snow patches getting to the ridge but nothing dire.
Here's one pic from today at Targhee. Had some friends from the city who were absolutely floored by the views from Buffalo Soldier zone. Not a bad backyard...

DH race at Targhee Saturday on Blondie (best trail at the 'ghee). Come party! If you don't want to race, but do want to view a spectacle, I'm gonna stash a backpack of beer and noise makers for spectators on the course, so you don't even have to carry your own chainsaw and beverages. If you do want to race, but don't want to pay full price, reach out, I held a fundraiser at the 5th Street event this spring, and have a few hundred dollars left to pay race entry fees for anyone on the fence about racing! Come party!
