PORTILLO'S FIRING!!!!!!!!

Been in Portillo for a week now and its the best season since '97. Today the lifts have been closed due to heavy snow and avalanche danger. We have picked up 2-3 feet in the last 48 hours, with the most snow coming in the last 10 hours. forecast calls for diminishing snow and clouds for the next three days, then sun over the weekend. Roads from Sanitago and Mendoza closed. The hotel is full, yet there were only maybe 150 people out yesterday due to the deep conditions...I love Portillo.

Oh yeh, hit the Super C last week with McConkey, TankShine, and ZPhoto. 6th time and by far the best.

Yesterday was epic with untracked, knee deep bombers through the Traverse chutes. Fan-facking-tastic!

Totally nuking here and the only thing that could ease today's closure pain is a half bottle of Jack. Watching the minutes tick away 'till tommorrows opening is sobering though, as the only thing that can make yesterday look bad is tommorrow. Huck on-slaught to ensue... Pictures to come then.

You made my heart skip a beat, you bastard. Just checked, roads are open :cool:. And can't concentrate worth a damn at work today. This is my first time back in Chile in 12 years. Seeing family, skiing, heading south. Could only be better if I could stay for more than 2 weeks :( . As soon as I get fired, I'm moving down there for a few years.

For anyone who hasnt gone, the place goes off... Sick lines to be had everywhere with little or no hiking. Davenports camp was slaying tracks down everything. I tried beating them to it but to no avail... He is a jedi....

This was a dinner at the awesome moutain restaurant Tio Bob's. Took the lift up that night, lots of vino and carne. If you ever happen to do a dinner there... please note the management frowns upon surfing the chairs down. (apparently)

I'm about ready to go kill myself now. Everywhere on the south island of NZ looks like Mt. Hood in July right now......and it's skiing aboutthe same too.
