Had to do it, it’s about time for all of the releases.
Was thinking about checking out a Salsa Rustler at the local shop so I called today. They said sorry, don't have any and I would have to wait until the 2021 stuff is released so I think your thread is timely.
So I have had a 2012 Kona Honzo Size M I have run since a SS since it came out.
The 420mm reach feels short to me and my size L Trance has a 468mm reach and feel spot on!
Kona released 4 new Honzo models today, 3 with sliders.
Kona Honzo ST - frame only.
Attachment 336352
Honzo DL - same geo as ST but AL and complete or Frame.
Attachment 336353
Honzo ESD - very progressive Geo and Steel. Complete or Frame.
Attachment 336354
its been 5 years since I bought a bike, and I now I am awaiting more info to proceed.
No tracking yet. Still hopeful its here this week. Jorts are mega tight atmAttachment 336364

It's wild to me that for once there are like 4? (Honzo ESD, Sutra ULTD, Shonky, Process X) Kona bikes that I'm actually stoked about and wish I could justify owning. Feels like 2008 when I wanted a Stinky, a CoilAir and a Jake the Snake. What a time to be alive.
The geo definitely sucked me in. The concerns being, will the head angle be too slack(first time saying that and would i consider a works headset for +1?) and will 36+lbs be ok. Should be fun somewhere

Now is that 36 lbs as they ship it to you? Or is that after you trim the fat on what they ship?

Im not sure. I think im adding a huck norris and some more on the tires straight away but i think that can be trimmed a bit next summer. Not much though

Thats another concern. Im hearing a lot of good things on them but the most recent thing i heard is creaking stanchions at the crown interface. Fingers crossed thats not a wide spread issue. Give it a go i guess. Hear lots of good reports on the zeb as well

I can't justify because I wouldn't ride it enough, but would love to update my Ti hardtail to this:

New Trance X looks good on paper

No change from 2020 as far as what tightens my shorts the most. Still want something from GG.
Looks new to me...

The Trance X 2 looks like a great value. Two things caught my eye though: The photos show SLX cranks, but the specs say MT510. Slight downgrade? And the specs list a KMC X-12 chain. I'm not seeing that chain as being fully compatible with Shimano 12-spd hyperglide+.
Depending on how the fall/winter goes I think I'll be buying a Transition Spur.

This is my cart when I hit the pre-order button. I’m not ordering one, was just curious. I’m not looking at ‘21 stuff right now. Replacing my ‘15 Spartan with a close out Tracer today hopefully.
The $6k price for the Spur is just the parts kit, you've still gotta add a $3k frame. Check the text under step 3 on the Transition website. Not sure why the other builds aren't like that.
I’m an idiot and it gives a warning to add a frame. That makes sense and yes, is a good idea.
So my local Kona Dealer said November for the new Honzo's and Process X's
I've sold three bikes in the past year and only replaced one of them, just doesn't feel right. Might need to buy something just for a little pick me up
The prices aren’t for build kits PLUS a frame.

Transitions are very nice but man are they pricey. You could almost buy 2 cubes, konas, or giants at an lbs for that. I know, fuck specialized, but that new status is a pretty good deal on a well thought out bike. Just saw a 2021 trek slash too. Pimped model looks amazing. I want to see the geo numbers. Hope they steepened their seat angles. I think its 160r/170f with a fox 38. Hoping they come out with a long travel 180 ebike

What are you talking about???
The COMPLETE XX1 (with a frame and everything) is $8999.
XO1 (with a frame and everything is $5999
GX with, you got it, a frame and everything is $4999.
The frame, all by itself is $2999. The XX1 built kit is $6000. When added together: $8999.
So these retailers are eating the cost of the frame???

Reading comprehension is hard.
So now that we're done with that...
Not sure if this is a '21 or whatever.. but I want a 'down country' short travel tail/xc bike that ain't a racer now...

I'm curious... which DTC brands (and bikes) is everyone lusting after these days? I'm super curious about Forbidden and Deviate, with their high pivot trail/enduro bikes; looks like there's next to no availability though. Who else is making cool shit these days outside the big players?
