playlist set for today :(
I LOVE Soundgarden...they are one of those "life changing" bands for me.
I'll be playing a whole bunch of Cornell for a while. RIP. This is a huge punch in the gut for me.
another dead junkie -
this is playing on local radio right now.
Unreal talent. This hurts almost as much as cobain 20+ yrs ago, sawe Soundgarden in 1989 at the OffRamp and I was hooked. The show I saw at the Paramount after badmotorfinger was top 5 all time. And dude would snowboard our local hill occasionally in a pink fartbag.
R.I.P., I have a few tears right now.
Sad. Loved his stuff. Grew up in the grunge era.
Soooo sad to hear this
I'm bummed. Probably one of my favorite bands and singers. Saw them many times, first time was at the I-Beam in SF and they opened for Faith No More. I was hooked after that. Shows at SJSU Event Center and Henry J Kaiser in Oakland for Superunknown and Down on the Upside respectively. Two of the heaviest shows I've ever been to, so much energy.
Cornell always seemed like a troubled guy.
Always liked Soundgarden. My kids weren't into it. I guess they made grunge that was palatable to aging hipsters. My kids were into shit like Nelly and rap.
^^^^Damn, I hope that was not the cause of his death. Loved the guy and was really shocked to hear he had passed at such a young age.
Great, great voice. Endless style points. Sad.
I was at that SJSU show(& probably HJK playing the odds), Oakland Stadium with Metallica and a handful of others. Remember at SJ show there was no encore, they just turned around and left the stage. It was the first I had seen anything like it so was taken aback. But it kinda made sense too. So good live. Badmotorfinger and Superunknown were pivotal albums for me growing up.
Another of my idols gone way to soon.
RIP and thanks for all the great music.
Superunknown was the first non-U2 album I owned as a teenager in the mid-90's. It really helped open up my taste in music. Still one of my favorite albums.
Two nights ago I was painting walls in my basement while rocking out to my Soundgarden collection. The collection is cranked back up today.

Shadow on the Sun from Collateral is still one of my favorite tunes of all time. RIP.

RIP Chris Cornell. I was a little shocked to hear that today. i saw Soundgarden in the early 90s opening for Voivod. I had no idea who they were, but they were LOUD AF. Saw them again Lollapalooza 92. Blown away again. Still my favorite Soundgarden song:
damn brings back good memories of my old man of mosh days
one of those bands and a musician i ussually made an extra effort to catch
saw em with faith no more at the aragon brawl room and a memorable lalapolossa show were they were gonna quit playing if them damn mosh pit freaks didn't stop tearing out the lawn seats sod and huckin it at the pavillion seats and stage
to a natures light show audioslave gig out here as a storm rolled thru west and over the satch
them opening up for neil in 93 then coming back out for the rockin in the free world encore was tight
Radio just said suspected suicide?
They did the same at Kaiser as SJ, "Thank you, Good night" and walked off the stage. It wasn't disappointing after 2+ hours of visceral, overwhelming sonic immersion. I remember standing in the middle of the floor at Kaiser with my ex wife and two of our friends and we were all "do you feel that?" The bass and drums were like a gut punch and and Chris's vocals and the guitars made you feel like you body was vibrating. Loud as hell but totally clean sound.
I will never forget poking smot with my headbanger friends in 89 or 90 and my buddy puts on Louder than Love. Holy shit it was different and sonically better than anything I'd listened to... I was at that Voivod show and Lolla 2 probably moshing next to Ripzalot without knowing it lol. Like everyone here my playlists are set foe the next little bit
Will be jamming this all day at work today.

I forgot how great it was but man does it bring back memories. Good ones too.
Got to see Soundgarden at Red Rocks. They were powerful. You could tell how in awe of the place they were.
We sadly strummed a few Soundgarden songs earlier. Black Hole Sun, Fell on Black Days, Spoonman, Outshined, Get Off My Wave. Goddamn they were good.
Not a Soundgarden song this is solo from the Singles called Seasons
I was at that one too. Great show and perfect recap there Aaron.
Either of you guys see 'em on the Superunknown at the Greek in Berkeley? That was an amazing show. Saw 'em in Sac at the Memorial Aud in 96 and at Harvey's in SLT outdoors on their reunion tour, all great & memorable.
his swan song...
Every word I said is what I mean
Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel
Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free, yeah
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me
What's in it for, what's in it for
Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel
Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook
Now I know why you've been shaking
Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took
Now I know why you've been taken
