In my town they switched to BeIN sports. Took me awhile to find it. Even get Moto 2 and 3 some weekends, and GP quali to boot. Sometimes it's in Spanish, but oh well.

But why did his front tyre lock up like that? For a few different reasons.
Probably most importantly, today’s MotoGP bikes make so much torque that the front tyre barely skims along the track surface, even in fifth and sixth gears. Therefore there can be almost zero load on the tyre when the rider first squeezes the brake lever, so the tyre locks. It’s possible that the introduction of MotoGP’s unified software, with its more basic anti-wheelie system, exacerbates this problem."
I agree to disagree. Just re-played - 4sec mark shows the smoke from the rear first while the front wheel continues to track. A lot less torque sent to the wheel in current bikes than in days past because of better frame geometry.
ETA: Rear brake is so seldom used and when it is it's very light. I've ridden a 2stroke with no rear brake. Got in trouble at tech inspection and had to put it back on.
Rear brake tap or lock will bring the nose of a bike back into shape pretty quickly. Nice tool when trying ot push the front end past your known limits. Great way to bring a tank slapper under control too. Harder to deploy when heeled over

Funny thing is I rode this exact corner on Sunday, not realizing until Monday what a shit show it was. Not surprised though, we stopped at the Rock Store to see these posers decked out in full race leathers, tuned sports bikes, and no clue how to corner. You got to love LA.
Seems like there's always someone to catch your crash and pick up your bike.

I sold my bikes a long time ago but a buddy has 5 or 6 bikes and one is an RC, he lets me take it out on rides. I had ducati so the RC is comparable but the ducati brakes were sooooo much better. All the japanese brakes I've ridden have felt either on or off, the brembo's were more linear... if any of that makes sense.

Old racing adage is "how fast you go through a corner is not as important as how fast you excited a corner." Few weekend warriors know this.
edit to add: Another thing common in many of those crashes was that many were still sitting centered on the bike which means too much lean angle and loosing a wheel or dragging a peg.

Yes, they had braided lines, I always attributed the better feel to the design of the brembo calipers but it definitely could be the lines. For whatever reason, they always felt better than that RC I would ride or my brother's R6.Quote:

By far the biggest race of the Year from the manufacturer's view point. The place to get a paying ride too. Not that hard to get an invite. The odds of actually doing more than standing around is much higher.

I saw a picture of Nicky on the bike as it went up in smoke but, I can't find it.
Honda is working with a 4 year old design/frame/engine package. Next year is supposed to be new from the ground up.
Always hoped for more out of the kid. One of the best mechanics I ever knew had a legitimate beef with steel braided lines. Said it was a flawed argument because nearly everyone replaced old worn out lines, then puts steel on and whammy, it's better than it was. That said, I still paid for HEL's. Solid company. I did it to my brand new 636 too when I used to ride faster. Can't honestly tell a difference - doesn't mean there isn't.

The VFR vs Ducati thing? I can chime in sorta. I'd say the Duc's are nicer because the ARE nicer, and that's that. They're better machines. I'd also say they have 'soul' because they can be quirky, while Japanese bikes generally 'have no character' because they perform flawlessly.
While back I bought a Futura and kept my '99 VFR for about 3 months so I didn't regret anything. The VFR engine is amazing, borderline ferocious when you get after it, but torquey enough to lug if feeling lazy. Rode both 6 hours to the Dragon, on it, and back. On my way back on the VFR I was pulling over every half hour to stretch and I was just getting beat up. No stops on the taller geared, longer Futura with a much better seat. While I have to worry if my gauges are going to work, be in km or miles, start, or headlight is going to flicker off and on while I turn, it's way more satisfying to ride. After a while the VFR just felt chintzy.
3 [that's right three] awesome races today. Good action and great weather meant an action filled inaugural race at the REDBULL Ring. Which is now the fastest track of the season for MotoGP.
Yeah, that's gonna make me wanna pit in as well.
