What do you think?
No, but it certainly rocks. Nice video too.
Personally, I would say yes... but I know a lot of people who would say it's not even the best Radiohead song of all time.
No.
I do think that Subterranean Homesick Alien/Karma Police/Let Down is the best back to back to back song set of all time, though.
Fake Plastic Trees for me wrt Radiohead.
It still rocks though.
I wouldnt go with THE greatest, but deffinitley one of the best ever...it really is an amazing song.
There really are a ton of Radiohead fans here these days. Years ago on P-mag I almost felt alone.
So it's settled then, while most agree it's a great song, it is difficult if not impossible to attribute the title "greatest song of all time" to any one song. Thank you for your participation, and by the way, I've been a huge radiohead fan since 1995, when I was first learned that all along I really wished that I was bulletproof, I just needed to hear it from Thom first.
Drop the "android" part of the title and you will be spot on.
MD, i still remember your TR from a concert that may have involved one of your water bottles. Do you have a personal favorite Radiohead song?Quote:

It would be really tough to pick one.
But to give ireallyliketoski some ammo for his case. The results of a recent poll:
http://www.ateaseweb.com/news/archiv...d_androi_3.php
I'm shocked that Pop is Dead wasn't dead last in the poll. That's pretty much the most scorned RH song on the board I post at.
How "Creep" is ahead of songs like "Morning Bell", "Subterranean Homesick Alien", "Packt", and "Black Star" is beyond me. That list blows.
That list was from an Atease poll. Ateasers know their shit concerning Radiohead. They may have different opinions, but they are definitely informed.Quote:

Pretty sure I do. I think I probably have a few that aren't on there as well like Follow Me Around and Nude. Man I wish they'd put those down onto a real album.Quote:

Yes. They interviewed him and he transcribed all the songs, too, although I understand the chances of actually playing some of them are remote. You can buy the book, though, and he said he included pictures to make up for the problems with playing the music.Quote:

It kind of simultaneously makes 'Head more "highbrow" while dumbing them down. That being said, there aren't a lot of other bands for which such an effort would be anywhere near worthwhile.Quote:

I don't even dislike Radiohead: I just don't understand what the big deal is.
I don't understand a world where a guy wears twister parachute pants in public, let alone at all. But to each their own. ;)Quote:

Seriously: if anyone wants to enlighten me, please go for it. Anyone got a short, 5-song list that demonstrates "here is my quick summary of why Radiohead is amazing"? (Note: as a junglist, I'm not scared of tweaky electronics.)
Several people I respect (including you, J) are seriously into them, and I'm trying to figure out if I've just heard the wrong songs, or if they really just do nothing for me.
Actually, if you want to see/hear my last band, click on this link.
Spats, everyone's tastes are different. For some reason they (radiohead) speak to me. I play Radiohead for some of my best friends and just wait for them to go: "Oh my god this is amazing" and they just go "meh". To each their own.
I think Radiohead's sound in some weird way reminds me of the frantic fast-paced chaotic world around us. I like the frustration and anger and fear. I like that they are able to create sounds that are new and incredible. Tons of bands are out there repeating sounds (I can't even begin to count the sheer number of retro bands.) and making it sound good. Others are forging new ground, but not making it work nearly as well (most of pitchfork's recos). These guys seem to be able to do both with ease. Before Radiohead the last time I had a hands down favorite band it was "the cure" so maybe I've just always been into to what others consider downer music.
As for 5 songs (for a radiohead beginner, I would prescribe different songs for different levels of fandom, I'm sure you already know, creep, high and dry and fake plastic trees):
Everything in it's right place
2+2=5 (crank that shit)
Pyramid Song
Exit Music (for a film)
I might be wrong
Damn it's tough to pick just 5 Radiohead songs.
A few more because I can't stop
Paranoid Android
Karma Police
No surprises
Let down
There There
Drunken Punchup at a wedding
The national anthem
How to disappear completely
Optimistic
Idioteque
Morning bell
You and whose army
Knives out
Dollars and cents
Like spinning plates
life in a glass house
high and dry
fake plastic trees (used to surgery, for girls in the 80s, but gravity always wins, and it wears me out)
Nice dream
Bullet proof (I wish I was)
Street Spirit (fade out)
creep
worrywort
innocents civilian
fog (awesome now that we have a kid)
big ideas (don't get any)
arpeggi
where bluebirds fly
paperbag writer
talkshow host
true love waits
how I made my millions
gagging order
How can you be sure
rabbbit in your headlights (w/dj shadow)
I've seen it all (w/bjork)
