With another winter season soon arriving and a happening party in a few days guess it is time to role with a new roll call to get the party started.
Thanks for the votes to start the new and I'll admit it is hard to put the bike down. Tonights forecast seems to be reminiscent of ULLRfests' past with some snow on the hills.
Get ready for the season, ESAW avy workshop 11/7 and 8
Always a generous contributor Jonathan S would love for you to join him in an avy course, inhuman sufferfest or both
Chauvinguides is another popular choice in the Presidentials.
There is a unicornpicnic coming to a town near you , DO NOT MISS IT.
Teton Gravity, our fine hosts, have a new film Almost-Ablaze. I kept hitting "load more" till I got bored, My guess it is showing in the East in November.
Matchstick is bouncing around like a drunk whore, all over the map with their new film "Days of my Youth", memories.
Sweetgrass is rolling around the area with a slick new film
lionelhutz posted the first ski photo last year, who is dropping first this year
I had a great year past skiing with friends old and new and look forward to more of the same this season.
T-O-P tunes, all I wanted was a pepsi

Yes, nice start Vt-F, but this leaves unanswered the key question of whether dark_star was the first of us to ski for the 2014-15 season or the last of us to ski for the 2013-14 season?
(Seems like probably the latter, since he was already most done with his most excellent TR before this thread started.)

You should really wait until he is 4-5 days old...
Congrats to you and your new family, B. That's even more exciting than a new thread!

Oh boy, oh boy! Can't wait for the flakes to fly.
Does a new thread mean it's time to scrape the storage wax?

Great start VTF...your evaluation date will be some time in late May or early June (ideally) to determine if you gain permanent tenure in the starters box !
After missing the first half of the season last year in gimp central and never getting back close to 100% I have a little extra adrenaline for the upcoming one, may it be safe, healthy and full of face shots for all!

As awesome as dark_stars trip report is, it is still a trip. As we take enough grief here in the east our first turns of the year should be from the East be they WROD at Killington or fast grass MRG action.

Ok, since it's not even close to real skiing yet and the trees are no longer sucking up the water, this season is kicking in with every rain storm. Guys running this stuff are just nuts, beyond nuts.

There is some scary shit in that video. Lost two good friends a long time ago in a river.

EC mags see this Powder article about sanctioned/maintained backcountry skiing in VT? feel like there was a thread elsewhere about this last winter...
Pretty stoked about this event. Should be a good time. The talented Brian Mohr of Ember Photography is leading the charge on this one. I was fortunate enough to have Brian photograph my wedding on Block Island last summer. Great guy...we offered him lodging but he insisted on setting up a tent site on my wife's grandmother's property...pretty rad.

Congratulations!
Although only three days old -- that would be crazy.
Even I waited until our daughter was four days old to take her out with me skiing:
... although I skipped taking her with me the previous two days only because the weather was bitterly cold.
(And yes, that is golf course flat -- literally.)
Almost five years later now, I need to measure her foot length again -- the new Scarpa F1 Evo comes in a 21.5!

That is sad, sorry to hear that. Years ago when I first got into whitewater I used to read the accident journal similar the NA mountaineering accidents book. It was then when I realized that I would only take that sport so far. Truly the scariest sport I've ever participated in.
So this was done recently by a very wealthy land owner. His house sits off to the right of this picture at the top. I guess he just wanted to look down at clean manicured woods. It's a 25-30 degree pitch and maybe 75 yards wide. What he'll be looking at this winter is my tracks! :D http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/...psf91e453f.jpg

2:15 is in the running for best Harry Potter ever.
Some of that stuff doesn't look like it's rowdy fun even if it goes right.
Ya, gonna get those trees out of Sandy Stream tomorrow, so we don't end up on the next video. Already had a close encounter with last year's swimmer of the year video. Staying away from the fellow at 12:30 next time I'm on the river!
It's an incredibly fun drop when you stay in your boat... Didn't come in this round of rain.
