So who's going, doors open at 8 pm.
Still don't know. Just can't get over the whole Limelight, club kid, stupid $20 cover asshole bouncer thing.
But if anyone wants me to pick up tix for them so they don't have to pay a service charge I can probably do that.
So Avalon is the old Lime Light?
Do you have to buy tickets in advance or can you pick them up at the door?
I'm still in. May bring a few from my harem ;)
Are we trying to pregame again or just show there?
BTW, the DVD is amazing! This movie rocks!
Dex, I may take you up on those no service charge tix. I'll email you.

I am definitely going. I have my tix at the door. I have to bring some people in at 8 but would be stoked for a pregame. Prolly mid-town would be best since that is where the show is. Hope we can rally more than just 2 NYC mags for this gig. Should be a killer party.
Imma try and make it up; game-time decision as always. I'd be getting into Penn station, is the Avalon nearby? Keep in mind that I usually get lost about 30 seconds after getting off the train when I go to NYC.
I'll be there
If Avalon is what was the lime light. You can hop on the ath and get offf two blocks away.Quote:

you could always just get a cab and give them the address and hope for the best.
ok, it's looking good. I'll be there at 8, prolly get some food before. Come on Dex, the weather sucks, this might help. I haven't been to a club in a while either but am willing to give it a shot.
As far as getting there, you could walk from Penn. Penn is on 33rd and 7th ave, Avalon is on 20th and 6th. It's an easy walk, just go out the 7th ave. exit and make a right, walk to 20th and make a left down to 6th ave.
Since Hunter mountain just melted on me I need this, even taking the day off for it. The jonesing is at maximum right now.
Yeah, it's Limelight. Short walk from Penn Stn (10 minutes, maybe). Go to Sixth and walk down to 20th(?), it's the church building on the east side (side further from Penn Stn) of Sixth.
Oops, or follow MFI's directions. Same thing.
Bring Wildbill with you.
Isn't he mildbill? Then again, after climbing street lights and kushing the sidewalks and bushes dictates that he's back to his old ways :DQuote:

What are pregame options in the area? We're talking midtown, right? Hopefully there's on street parking so I don't have to pay 30 bucks

Prolly won't make it but if y'all are looking for a good old timely bar/burger joint in the hood I highly reccomend this one:

Enjoy the show for me, since I'll be recovering from surgery. Mtn. Man, learn to start taking the train into the city- easier than parking, and gives you time to sober up on the ride home.
Mtn. Man, if I'm there I'll probably drive downtown (I actually used to live two blocks crosstown from there). Best bet for parking is probably on 5th above 23rd, that's where I'd check first, anyway. Parking in Chelsea at that time on Friday nights gets tough. I wouldn't bother looking too much within the immediate vicinity of the Limelight.
The train is a pain in the arse from where I live. The Bergin Line only goes to the Path. Then you take the Path in. There's no straight shot to Penn Station. We're talking probably over an hour train ride when it takes me less than half the time by car. Parking in the con of it all. I can find street parking in most places except midtown.Quote:

Good luck with the surgery today!

Thanks for the tip, we'll head straight to 23rd and 5th. What burger bars are around there? Could use a quick bite and a beer before the gig. Maybe meet a few magmins there.Quote:

See Paging NYC maggots thread. See you guys tonight.
I'll be there with a smile on my face. Miss Elevens might even make a showing - if i can assure her that it won't be a bunch of bro's yelling sweet and dude.
See you around 8 -
Dex - lift up some of your sofa seats & scrape together the $$$.
Pray for snow -

Hate to bring this up, but does anyone know if this joint has a dress code, being that it's a club on a Friday night???
I'm most comfy in the jeans, fleece and hat but don't want to be turned at the door because I don't fit the bill. I have a feeling that a lot of people will be turned at the door if they DO have a dress code, that would royally suck.
Anyone, anyone?

I am in for tonight but I am thinkin about this dress code thing. Will they block me from coming in for sporting hiking boots and jeans?Quote:

Just called Avalon, here's the direct quote on dress code:
"The dress code is upscale and trendy, no jeans or sneakers."
I have a feeling this is gunna screw a lot of people. The majority of people that go to these things wear jeans. Usually you can't wear hats to a club either.
I'll be there, just have to grab a pair of khakis on the way and ditch the hat. As for the trendy part, I may be in trouble
I hope TGR has a talk with the club otherwise, this could get ugly.
B)
I'm still dressing like waldo. TGR has to have some say in this dress code bit, right?
ONS, little help please.
He's checking with the tour manager now.Quote:

I doubt the dress code is optional or negotiable. Dress your best, no sneakers and you should be fine. Some of these clubs are real picky, but with the movie playing it should be no prob. It's Friday night so they will have their regular crowds coming in later, we will be only a small part of it.
This sounds like a good place to pregame, it gets my vote:Quote:

Old Town Bar

Phone: (212) 529-6732
Price: $3.25-$4.25 bottled beer; $4 draft beer; $3.50 and up well drink
I'll try to make it there, matters if I can get the ladies movin'.
B)
bizzump for pregame, looking more likely now.
No word on the dress code lowering yet.
A few kboard people should be there too.
"When message boards collide...."
B)
Can't make pregame. Look for Waldo once you get in.
"Big Gulps, huh? Alright."
So who ended up going? Found it impossible to meet anyone, too crowded and LOUD!
Same here, only found kboard friends that I already knew. It's hard to ask change for a nickel when it's that loud. At least I got to say hi to Charlotte :DQuote:

Showed up at pregame with a few friends but didn't find anyone else. Oh well, still had a blast. Didn't get home until after 4am.

C'mon, make me feel bad. What'd I miss?
Make up stuff if it sucked.
Was the movie in one of the smaller spaces there?
It was in the whole place. There were video projectors everywhere so you could see it anywhere you stood. Gotta say it's a pretty big place so you could spread out a little more. Seemed a little rushed compared to other shows and they didn't give out as much swag as I've seen before. I like when they have an intermission at these things but that didn't happen either. The entertainment was kinda funny. Razhel is a hip hop modern day "Fat Boys beatbox". I give the guy props for what he can do with the mike, just not my thing though. Even he said "Hey I think I see a couple black people in the audience, that's good :) ".Quote:

I got to talk to all the stars beforehand and get the autographed posters so that was very cool. I thought Nobis was a huge guy but he's only a little bulkier than me and same height. I guess a camera and big mountains does that to you :D
We hit a couple bars after that and didn't get home until after 4am so it was a good night.

The movie was great, they had the bass way too up which is prolly what was causing it to skip a lot. At least the $10.00 drinks had some alcohol in them. Met Micah Black outside, he was trying to eat a hotdog. The bouncers kept telling he couldn't stand in front of the place (a crime in NYC no doubt). I tell the guy this is one of the stars of the movie (blank stare), I say let the guy eat a damn dog if he wants to, these people are here for him (blank stare). We move down the road a bit and all Micah kept saying was how happy he was that we came down to see the film, how much he loves NY, and we should look him up when we are in Jackson. We where all pretty sauced so I wonder if he would even remember the encounter, I sure will. Mtnman says he thought Nobis was a lot bigger, I though Micah was way bigger than he is, still a big dude to be pulling back flips off cliffs. Went to the Peculiar Pub after and consumed many glasses of Belgium ale. $200.00 well spent.:D
Nice, wish I coulda made it.
All those places try to keep people from standing outside--usually you just end up in a fight with bouncers if you 'disobey'.
It was a cool venue. Glad to get the chance to hang out in there as I would never otherwise do so. A little creepy drinking Bud in a church. I thought that I am too old to be star-struck, but it was great to meet Micah and Nobis. Sage appeared to be out of his head.
Only thing won by anyone I know was a woman's medium northface base-layer, caught by my pal who weighs upwards of 250. Watching him try and stuff his man-boobs into that shirt was probably the highlight of the evening. Thoroughly impressed with the film. I want to have Victoria's babies.
I caught the train into NYC to check out the show. I missed the first 20 mins. But what I did see was great. Got to meet miss Moats and some other missfits. The guys seemed to be having too much fun with the circle of blonds eye them up. Black was putting on the moves. I think Honc was standing next to me at one point but I figured there had to be more than one guy sporting a red and white striped shirt in the club so I didn't ask for change.
One of the funnier things I saw during the show was this guy standing behind the big screen holding what looked like the DVD player that was running the show. I hope that guy got paid to stand there. Made me think of the Wizard of Oz.
The sound seemed to be off a little but the show kick ass. Music was good. There wasn't really a bad place to be watching from casue there where screens everywhere.
The guy doing the beat box stuff after the show wasn't that bad. Mary..Mary... had a good time.
-->If you had a tab at the bar check your card. I was billed twice!
Jstead, too bad. Would've liked to meet a mag. I avoid putting cards down anywhere in this city. A good friend of mine tends bar uptown and his boss tells him to add charges to cards if:
1) he thinks that the cardholder won't notice
2) if the guy is really drunk.
Dubious at best...
Is this at Atlantic Grill by any chance? They did it to Mrs. OldLarry and 5 of her friends (EVERY ONE of them) one time. Pathetic.Quote:

It is not the AG, but that certainly does happen there. A group of girl friends of mine had an experience similar to your wife's. Solid business practice...
Welcome to New York, hang on to your wallet...
