I'm curious how everyone's quiver selection worked out. Here are a couple of questions for you all:

1. Did you find yourself wishing you'd brought a ski you didn't?
i) if "yes" what did you leave at home?

2. Did you bring skis you never used?
i) What did you end up chosing as your primary ski and was it the one
you thought you'd probably use the most?

3. Did you discover you didn't own the skis you needed/wanted?
i) if "yes" did you take the opportunity to demo
something?

4. Did you experience "ski envy?" :wink:

Bonus Question: While schlepping your skis through the airport did you find yourself wishing you had one of those ski bags with wheels? :biggrin:

i. Skied both skis for three days each, thought I would ski the Bro's more but the conditions seemed good for the 8.6's (really would have been OK taking just one pair, either would have been fine)

skied pistols for alpine and bros for touring and some alpine. about 50/50.

3. Did you discover you didn't own the skis you needed/wanted?

i really want some another pair super stiff bros with alpine bindings ;)
id also like my tabla rasas to arrive.

No, I had soft BRO's and Volkl G40's, which were a good combo.

No, and thankfully I used my BRO's primarily since it was a BC festival :D

I wish I had ordered the "Stiff" BRO"s.

4. Did you experience "ski envy?"

I didn't see Josh's Tablas, but he offered to let me take 'em for a spin (good thing he didn't - I'd have skipped town ;)

Brought my Bros and Superspeeds. Used the Bro's 100% of the time. The Bros did great. The SS's were just in case the snow situation degraded.

used all three pair.
skied the big daddies more than i thought i would. which was good.
went for an awsome tour on my sweet touring whip, so i'm glad i had that.
my ff's were perrfect for the wet fast grabby snow alta got at the end of my trip. no sidecut is good.

Nope, spent most of my time on the Tweaks, glad I brought them.

2. Did you bring skis you never used?
All 3 pairs got used. Probably didn't need the Pistols, but they were nice for the run in Granite Canyon.

3. Did you discover you didn't own the skis you needed/wanted?
I knew long before the trip that there are more skis that I "need".

4. Did you experience "ski envy?"
Having seen them in action, I want a pair of Bros. karl Stall just looked too smooth on his (probably more the skier than the ski, but I still want a pair)

1) Should have known better than to leave the explosivs behind, I always regret not having them.
2) Nope, skied both pairs.
3) Nope, just left them at home
4) Yep, Idris's hand built Spatulettes are titties.

1. No, but I have a pretty narrow quiver.
2. No, only brought 1 pair, which I used as a matter of fact.
3. Something with better float definitely would've helped in the deeper crud.
4. Yes, I heart the wizard explosives. Beatiful graphics and not a bad ski either. Also, the Tahoe waterskis mounted with some salomon 914's that were in the basement of Hostel X were pretty sweet too.

bonus: that would've been a nice bonus

You could have answered the bonus question. We had a box with wheels in that the box was mounted to car which had wheels.

Brought the Sugar Daddy's and Flame Big's. Love both of them and used each of them 50% of the time.

The Tabla's are my "ski envy" but didn't see them. Also think Bro's are prolly the perfect touring ski.

bonus: Got an AJ Kitt Double Trouble bag, worked awesome again. Basically crammed all of my third bag (boots, helmet, jackets, shovel, socks, capilene, etc) in with my skis for the trip home.

Skis, no. Crutches, yes

Well, not really. Although they didn't get much use because I was the king gimp of the summit

Yeah, because Kush owns the SethPistols I used to nearly kill myself on.

When you can't ski, you'd get ski envy looking at a pair of Rossi 4SK's mounted with Marker M46's

Yes. I'm a lazy MoFo who schleps too much gear on trips as it is. Wheels woulda been nice.

Negative again, used both Fat Bastards(6 days) and Fischer Airstyles(3 days).

I just bumped up against the summit, so I'll have little to say. I decided on this trip never to buy a big ski (beyond my flame bigs) ,and rent out west when the snow flies. $32 a day at TVS for a nice selection.

1. Did you find yourself wishing you'd brought a ski you didn't?

I wish I could have resurrected my poor dead Monster 103s but otherwise my options were limited. Glad I left my credit card at home when Kellie took us to the ski shops in town.

2. Did you bring skis you never used?

No. I left my jib skis at home and travelled light with just the Motherships. Negated the need for wheels on my ski bag although my bag did get searched by customs after Mrs Roo surreptitiously loaded a bunch of her shit into it when my back was turned. Her bag has wheels. Nice.

3. Did you discover you didn't own the skis you needed/wanted?

Knew that already although the Moship is a versatile stick. Superstiff Bros/Monster 103s/Big Daddies/W105s/CMH Sploders would all have been good for some high speed hammering

4. Did you experience "ski envy?"

The multitude of Bro Models looked very spunky, but I did like the edge detuning potential of Gin's Volkl Karma topsheets.

AA would only allow one pair of skis. Due to the dire weather reports prior to the summit, a decided to bring the possibly more veratile Public Enemies and left the W105's at home. I missed the W105's in the crud and in the deeper/heavier snow at Cody (two days post feeding frenzy). The PE's did well in the lighter stuff, though

No, I own appropriate skis, I just didn't have them to hand

I have the whole lot on wheels!!!

1. I brought 200ffls with real bindings, 190FFFs with real bindings, and 190ffls with frishittys--i like those skis and didn't wish for other ones. well, when i got tired (which took about 3 runs thanks to my rigorous training program of fast food, drinking and smoking) i might have liked to switch the 200ffls for my super nobii.
2. No--4 days on each pair with real bindings, one day at teton pass on the frishittys
3. No, but jenny killed her skis on day 4 and demo'ed or skied on very crushed sidewall PRs the rest of the trip. now she wants seth pistols and w105s. oops. at least i kept her out of the iggy factory, as i was dreading that the 'can you make me a pink sparkly topsheet' question might be answered 'yes'
4. Ski envy for the all wood iggies around jackson (i have the old ptex sidewalled ones...so pedestrian)
5. My ski bag has wheels, and jenny carried one pair of my skis (to avoid excess luggage fees). oops.

you get tagged for the over 50lb-bag? Delta had me at 53lbs...gave me the 'you're lucky it's early' look...and threw it(dragged) on the conveyor. That's w/2-pair skis, helmet, pants, gloves.

on the way back all 6 of our bags got flagged for excess baggage and they wanted like $35 a bag, so i started shuffling stuff around, as the line creeped out of the corral the guy finally just said 'go'.

the one out of every ten times they actually call me on it, it works every time.

On my trip to SLC I tipped the porters big and they let my one bag slide. It had a half case of wine in it :biggrin:

Hehe, mine weighed in at 49.8lbs at home. Thought I'd be over since those FB's are freakin' heavy. That AJ bag kicked arse though.

No baggage issues for me. Don't know what they weighed, but I had two full sets of gear in a ski bag, a boot bag and a suitcase and no one blinked an eye. Used the alpines three days and the teles three. Didn't really bother being envious of anything around me (excepting basom's steezy hat).

Sick and ashamed and happy (and only own the two pairs so no need to make decisions),

Got popped by American for $25 on the way out, bag weighed in at 70 lbs. I tried to explain that I had no boot bag but the cranky bitch (well it was 5:45 AM) would have none of that. First time it's ever happened though so I figure I'm up in the grand scheme of things.

Normally I just tip the skycap well and its no problemo, but AMR cut out their skycaps in K-Town (along with half of their flights). :fuckyou:
