We recently bought a 2012 Kia Soul 6spd with the 1.6L direct injection motor and Mrs. Cruiser is averaging over 37mpg on her mostly city commute between Littleton and Lakewood and has had a couple of tanks where she got an average of more like 39mpg out of it.
By comparison my '02 Excursion diesel auto is averaging 15mpg around town. And my '08 Xterra 6spd gets about 18.5 in mixed driving.
So, what are you in and how's your real world mileage?
Since I stopped eating meat my mileage has been much better.
Mercedes CLK550 pushing 400hp and 4.5 second 0-60. 21.5 avg. mpg.
VW sportwagon TDi avg. 41.3 mpg. It just had its first oil change the other day.
'02 BMW 325xi averaging 22mpg city driving, 25mpg mixed driving (with a 10mile work commute). Wish I was getting a little more, but that's what motorcycles are for!
All mpg hand-calculated averages (not relying on dashboard displays), mix of city/hwy.
2008 4Runner, V6 4WD, 5-speed automatic. Has leveling kit and slightly taller tires (255/75/17) than stock. 18-19 mpg.
2000 GMC Sierra, ext. cab, longbed, 4WD, 6.0L gas V8, 4-speed automatic. Has pop-up camper on it at all times. Stock tire size. 11-12 mpg.
2009 Subaru Outback (Mrs. C.'s car), 2.5 non-turbo, 4-speed automatic. 25-26 mpg.
Legacy GT w/ some fun bits gets 24 mixed.
06' Element AWD auto 23.5 city, 28 highway
07' Nismo Frontier 4.0 liter auto 15.5 city, 19 highway
My daily is a Nissan Titan and I get about 11-12mpg.

Wife's Sonata gets a deplorable 22 mpg average. Surprisingly fast car, which is fun for me, but doesn't work well for her since her foot only knows off-the-gas or floored.
2006 Forester Turbo, 26.5 MPG mixed. 23 city, 29 going over the rockies from Boulder to Grand Junction. 27 with a top box.
Wife's 2006 Honda Civic gets about 37, mostly in town. It got 50 mpg when we moved and she was following me driving the moving truck, going mostly 50 mph.
The stated Mercedes numbers are a lie. The CLK550 is faster than the CLK55 AMG and DB did not want to denigrate the CLK55 AMG owners who paid more money. The car is VERY fast but 4.5 may be slightly optimistic but not much.Quote:

'09 G8 GT, highway cruising, ~25mpg, but I had seen over 30mpg pre-AFM disable. I don't like to think about city mileage. Overall mixed is 18-22mpg. For being able to turn some sticky 285's into black 11's while seating five comfortably, I'm okay with it.

My Honda Fit probably gets 31 or so around town and 34 if I'm on the highway. That can be bumped up 4-5 mph if I drop the speed to 65.

Have a 07 GTI with the 2.0 turbo. I can get 39 mpg if I drive 56 mph on the highway. Overall probably high 20's.

'99 corolla, 38-41mpg commuting between boulder-denver/around town . ~35 going 90-100 on highway with two people and a bunch of gear. More than half of the door handles are partially broken, good thing most of my friends are climbers... Cheap car, cheaper to maintain, love that piece of shit!

My 07 Range Rover HSE Supercharged gets 15.9 with cargo box and lead foot. If I drive like most folks around 18

I few years ago I had a 97 Jag XJ12 with the last 12 cylinder that Jag put out 15 highway/12 combined/ & 8 if I drove it hard.
My dream car is the Fisker Karma. None of my cars get better mileage on a Vegan diet
'12 Dodge Challenger - Overall since new is 23.2mpg but more recently with the motor all broken in and summer blend gas it's been running between 26-29. I just did a 1,000 mile test and it was 26.8. I do about 800 miles a week with 75/day hwy and the rest urban/suburban including all the way into downtown Manhattan five days a week.
Wife's 09 Corolla xrs = 34mpg
My (wife's old, soon to be daughter's) 98 Corolla = 36mpg
My 2012 Tacoma = 21mpg. Only 5000km on it so it might get better once broken in.
