Figured I'd give an update for EC'ers...got my first turns in of the year :cussing:
Just got back from the Mt. Washington Valley, two days at Wildcat, one at Attitash. The Cat was definitely the better of the two, very hard packed at the Cat, but the groomers have done what they can it seems, ice was minimal. Attitash's claim to the most open terrain in NH is a little :fm: ...apparently they're counting is a bit different than others. The storm from last night was only 4", which is about 36" shy of what they need for a decent base. However, there will certainly be people joining you at Kmart, gapers maybe....but all I know is Rt. 16 was as packed as ever heading into the valley, apparently 4" is quite a dump this year
Oh, and I dunno if the Cat's man-made is a bit different than others but that garbage took me to a dead stop and over the handlebars from a decent pace yesterday :nonono2:
Have fun out there..next week not looking so good
I'm pretty sure Gore on Sunday and KMart Monday. Gotta get some turns in before J Hole.
pouring freaking rain here in eastern Pa. It's looking like Feb. will be the beginning of the season for me
edit at 2:18 pm... well, the rain stopped and the sun's breaking through and the temp is climbing into the sixties. :cussing:
It's so sad. I have the time off and I'm not even going to bother :(
Dude, the last two days at Mt. Snow have been killer. The best skiing I've had all year...
I even got a face shot on thursday at snow. If you have the abiliy to go to southern VT then do it because conditions have been great.
K mart rocked today -snow snow snow
not lake tahoe, but great day!!!!!
breaking in the bro's tomorrow at K. Lovin' this snow. I'm bitter about the lack of snow we've had, but a bad day skiing is better than... well, pretty much anything else.
Might head to Loon tomorrow, only expense to me is a lift ticket, free ride and food...not sure the lines warrant the subpar conditions, and the injured knee :rolleyes2, but any skiing is good right now. It's either that or getting drunk in Providence tonight :FIREdevil
I'm planning on being there tomorrow. I was supposed to go with another guy and his girlfriend but they haven't call me back and its 10:30 so I guess they aren't going. Shoud be behind the base at 10. See ya there.
Loon's a go for me tomorrow, BigJay were you referring to being there or K Mart? I'm hitching a ride from my brother and his girlfriend, so looks like I'll be on my own so he can coach her. If anyone is planning on heading there let me know, I'll be on my own, with an aggravated back and mcl, but the groomed conditions such be nice to those two aggravations....hopefully I'll see you there.
Gore 8:30 manana (I hope) Black Helmet, old guy, red 5 Stars. KMart Monday?
10AM at the Base sounds like K-mart.
I'm so glad I can drink again- this "winter" will require quite a bit of Labatt's to survive
Sort of by surprise I'll be at mount snow tomorrow. We'll have radios.... Aw heck why not I'll even set 'em to 5-13.
Nate dogg I was talking about Kmart. Have fun out there ladies and gents!
or trips westQuote:

cheers
Sorry, he's gone

No depression here - It was a pretty good weekend in southern VT. We got 6" on Saturday and today at Magic was pretty sweet (honest). The trees are still a bit thin but the rest of the mountain is holding up nicely. One more big storm and the mountain should be in great shape.
elevens
From what I'm reading over on the kzone this weekend was great! However, it's a bit like a starving man coming across some slightly-slimy-should-be-tossed ham. Sure it tastes great...you're a starving man! We still need more snow.
But I am still stoked for the coming weekend. Anyone up for MLK despite the crowds? I am braving it. Forecasted temps appear to be very cold (what happened to that 70 degree day we were going to have? not that I want it!) and some snow coming in this week.
So don't fear the masses (they can be side-stepped) and go get it!
:)

much love to the K maggots for once again showing me a good time. Devils fiddle was a BIT sketchy :rolleyes2 but all and all coverage and conditions we excellent.
Good skiing with you laser. Yeah, that was probably my worst run down fiddle ever. Your face came a little too close to that rock. From my angle, I couldn't tell if you did hit it. I cringed until I saw you were OK.Quote:

Yeah I had a great time at the K yesterday too. It's always fun skiing with mags. Even though not all of us have the steeze schuss has...
Smuggs was good. Soft on Sat and sweet on Sunday. Skied some OB trees and was surprised at how good it was. Still need to watch where you put your skis but all in all not as bad as I thought it would be. 6-8 inches of pow on top of a firm base. Now we just need about 3 feet more.....
maybe after this next warm up and re-freeze.....blah blah....
I think I took the faceplant award for the weekend at Okemo. Double binding release to solid faceplant. Broke my goggles, my glasses and got stiches to fix up the nose. It was quite interesting driving home with taped up glasses with only one lense.Quote:

The Rivah was decent on Saturday. It was dumping when I left. On Sunday I skied the Sherby and it was really good. I would have skied the bowl, but the dude I was with was still drunk from Saturday night. Bluebird w/no wind @ HoJoes low/mod avie danger. That does not happen this time of year. The again, neither did the slide on Huntingtons on saturday either.
I am going to be in the Jay area this weekend anyone around?
Possibly me. Not yet sure.Quote:

They were pulling passes at the base of Conclusion right after you hit it, sounds like you guys opened the floodgates.

my dream is to own a neon pink fartbag. It's the only thing more visible than my current jacket.
Haha I forgot the rope steeze, the pink neon steeze...but I think who gets it the most is the male wearing the female black stretch pants (circa 1975) with the grey rear entry boots (circa ??) and the florescent jacket. I think spanky got some helmet cam of it in the glades triple line. It was fuckin classic. :yourock:
Looks like I'm heading up to Jay for a couple days. Tues, Weds, maybe thursday as well; depending. If by chance anyone's there look for the dude in the bright yellow flexons, black cargo pants and blue/white jacket.
cheers
It was off of Upper Fall Line and one of the black diamond trails that runs into it. The bottom of the closed trail looked like it had a little more cover and I wanted to ski the little fresh that was on it. However, it was pretty much a dead stop once I got off the man made snow on the trail.Quote:
