Aahhh the easy way up! ;) Thanks for sharing... that mountain looks like a beast! Would love to climb it if it doesnt melt and crumble again.
Mountains are a lot nicer when you climb them - especially if they don't have helicopters buzzing around the summit.
Ok, thanks for that. Do you think a pilot would fly around like that when people were on the mountain? We were heliskiing that day,the first & last time I've been. The next time my bro offers to pay I'll quote you.Quote:

I really don't mind whether you or your bro paid for the trip. I hope you had a great time I know how much fun heli skiing can be.
Mountains are beautiful and that one is a cracker. Your video shows this amazingly well.
They're especially beautiful if you climb them. If you've never tried it please do so. It can be a life changing experience.
I happen to think that they're even more beautiful without helicopters buzzing the peaks for people to gape at them.
I've been buzzed by heliski/sightseeing/military flights while climbing. It's not pleasant to have my peaceful enjoyment of the mountains disturbed in this way.
I'm very sorry if any of that gets on your tits.
:fuckyou: to you to and have a very Happy Christmas! :)
Easy there BritQuote:

As for the heli, a couple things come to mind:
a) when I am climbing and one passes, I need to stop because I can't think. This is the same for when a train passes at a certain crag. Noise messes with me on the rock;
b) helicopters can be quite quiet. It depends on the muffler system;
c) I never like hearing a heli because it usually means something bad has just happened.
I would not pass up the opportunity for a heli ride in the alps. Ideally, I'd like to ride with an av control team some morning, as opposed to being heli lifted for any reason, or paying for it.
And, I believe I saw some climbers on the horn in your vid.
That thing gets alot of traffic.
Nice TR.
WOW that is one mean rock, thumbs up
I think that would scare the shit out of me. Helicopters make me nervous, especially that close to the rock.
Neat video, though. I like the way he spiraled up the mountain.
Nice!
SaAaH (and this line comes in handy to over come the 10 character minimum),

Glad you liked it. I'd like to think if the pilot saw people on the mountain he'd not fly like that.
Need to convince edg to host the rest of the vid.....
To be fair to PNWBrit, I edited a :fuckyou: out of my post an hour or so after I posted it. But :fuckyou: as well and happy christmas anyway :wink:
I could not view it a work do to firewall stuff.... I'm sure it was very cool.
Yeah my :fuckyou: was not used as a first strike weapon!Quote:

For the mtn climbing jongs, what is the degree of difficulty in climbing and summiting the matterhorn? Looks pretty gnarly.
Dog route Is reasonably straight forward usually with a guide client ratio of 1:1. The overnight is at a hut so nice light packs. It needs some rock and alpine experience but nothing huge unless you're thinking of going unguided.Quote:

I'm fairly sure I saw one person on the mountain, but not positive because he was in brown and when the helicopter passed by the interlacing was severe enough that I couldn't make a positive ID and I'm not sure why a climber would have been there.Quote:

Just because you would like to think that doesn't make it true.Quote:

Every heli pilot I've ever seen loves the performance of their machines so much that they don't pay as much concern to the natural aspects of their surroundings like whether anything would mind if they leave noise behind. I've been with ones that go and buzz mountain goats on a ridge just because they can and they want to get a better look. SAR pilots sometimes go and land near a camp to ask where the injured climber is, but land so close to someone's campsite that hasn't been prepared for their arrival, that things blow away or tents are on the verge of collapse.
While I might not have brought up the subject of the impact of a flight around the peak, after having been on the receiving end of near fly-bys, I can surely sympathize with how a climber would react if one were there.
Wow, that's a big mountain. Sweet video, it's hard to appreciate it the thing from the one picture I always see of it.
