Will Micha be wearing fur?
The utah mini might be an issue for some...$$$ for others. Is this a heli event or something less quan intensive?
It would have to be a heli event -- real big mountain stuff. Instruction would focus on line evaluation, safety, approach, technique, sluff mgmnt, etc...
April ? I'll go if we can work out a payment plan...
Hell yeah except I'm poor maybe I could do it then work off the debt doing fishing guide work for kings and corn?
I probably wouldn't be able to afford it no matter what, but I've also always had a bad attitude toward the 'name' camps/clinics, etc. It always seemed to me that there was a lot of extra expense associated with having the 'name' at the camp. That said, I know people who have done such camps (most notably Combs' camp) who have really liked them, so what do I know?? It's just my opinion that you can usually learn the same stuff from other people without paying for the name, and just because someone's well known doesn't mean they'll be a great coach (again, though, for all I know Micah's the best coach out there).
I'd have the desire....but not the time nor the cash this year.
In this case, you wouldn't be paying for the name, it would be the same price of a regular trip, but you'd have access to a guy who regularly hits the steepest of the steep -- places we wouldn't normally take the average client.Quote:

Sounds neat, but heli-skiing is waaaaaay too expensive for me. Unless you'd like to trade raft guide time Owens. ;)
How much $$$ are we talking about? Like most mere mortal / people who missed the Internet stock bubble, that will me my #1 issue :(
drC
HELL YEAH!!
oh wait. I'm broke. Guess I'll have to wait until I'm 80 and rich on retirement funds, aka when I'm too broken-down to ski steeps.
so, wanna let me in free?? ;) :D
I might be interested (depends how the bizness is over the next couple of months) I'm guessing that "camp" means a package deal with the same people for all 5 days. if it was possible to jump in on a couple of days, or trade off with some other "campers":p I think that it could be an excellant possibility. :D :D :D
I'm sure we can do a special deal for the minions.
:D
At last Ted's true identity is unveiled!
The camp sounds great, but I have neither the ability nor the funds :(
Get Mr. Jones involved and I'd be there. Except I ain't got no job.
Owens,
A friend of mine, with fairly deep pockets (and possibly the ability to expense some of it), has been talking about doing some heli-skiing this year. He thinks AK is probably too far to go, but I figured I'd ask you anyway.
Yes, I'm secretly hoping he figures out a way to claim I'm a client, but it'll never happen.
Maybe you can email me and I'll forward info to him?
that would be sick! but im only 16 and poor....i dunno how set you are on doing this in AK which would be f-ing amazing but possibly somewhere where it would be easiar for every one to get to possibly maybe a lil cheaper to so... i dunno maybe Jackson, or somthing like that?
Except that the heliskiing company that I own is in AK...Quote:

What happens if you can afford it but you suck?
o:) ok then that makes it just a little bit harder then..lol i guess it will just have to go down in AK w/o me.lol
As long as someone videotapes the results, it's all good.Quote:

Remember the old (erased, no doubt) 'falling off a mountain' thread?
I remember that. Good thread.
But this wasn't a rhetorical question.
thats easy...you sponsor us poverty stricken maggotsQuote:

The days are pretty short in Feb.
What about a quality week in April?
heh.
What the hell, I'll continue the cavalcade of responses to Icemang.Quote:

You don't suck that bad, go! Lay off the smokes and wine for a day or two, you'll be fine.
I myself couldn't survive the lack of beer and smokes said trip would entail, so I'll have to beg off.
BobMc
PS, by the way Mr. Icemang, I heard something today which intrigued me, drop me an email.
Micah is one of the most genuine people that I have met skiing and he is the absolute man in terms of celeb pro status, but alas this is a highly expensive pursuit.
ONS, I just got a really cool voice mail from Theo about the rendezvous and I know that I cannot go. Even though I'd like to send some great customers his way, my responses would mirror this thread since fundage, time, and the like dictate everything. Good luckand if you're going to do it, let me know and I'll help you find some rich, ripping skiers with time. :D
Great idea, though. That sounds like the experience of a lifetime.
Check you e-mizzie, Meeester Bob.
(All I was sayin' is that I ain't a rockstar and I ain't broke)
Shit, notice my sig from Snow Drifters. It's from a segment that features Micah before he was anyone. Sweet, huh? :D
That fucking movie rules!!!!!!!!!
I guess you're out. Owens mentioned sluff management, but he didn't mention anything about suck management.Quote:

Careful, Brutha.
Careful.
Sorry, Ice. I just couldn't resist that one. I'll guarantee I suck way worse than you anyway.Quote:

A lot of people in the 'I suck worse than you do' comp this year. Go use my equation to settle it once and for all.
And I should have mentioned that this is the type of thing I'd love to do, I just always have it in my head that such camps are overpriced. But if it's the same as a normal week, well hell, why not?
I did the H20 equivilant last year. We were supposed to have Seth Morrison as a coach until he backed out for more MSP filming. We had Dean Cummings, Spencer Wheatly, and Hilaree Nelson, and Kristen Ulmer for celeb skiers/coaches.
I would say I learned alot, but I'm not sure it was the best forum for instruction because everyone paid some beaucoup bank and deep down you know that every minute you're being lectured is another minute you aren't skiing.
So no, I probably wouldn't go again.
ONS I'm gonna make you a offer you can't resist. Let me go free now and in a couple years I'll do my first seg for free.
Its a really good idea but its spend 3k on heli skiing or get a new street bike.
Really - gotta know. Just curious on my part. It sounds pretty pricey. Just an estimate would be O.K.Quote:

Value is the question. People will rearrange priorities if there is a good value - rich or poor. If this is a rare opportunity that is relatively affordable you may see good success.
Which company are you with again? Is there a website I can check pricing. I doubt I could afford it but it never hurts to dream.
I'd be game depending on cost. I gots the time, and needs to skillz. I like the idea of working it off for raft guiding, come on, you know you need more help. haha, I wish

I'm thinking it would probably be around $3500 including lodging at the Alyeska Prince Hotel. 5 days, 6 nights with snowcat backup.
Could there be a discount for, say, staying in a dirt lot off of Alyeska Drive? Or under the overhang at the Merc? And just pay for heli/coaching time?
My visa doesn't yet have a large enough limit to warrant staying at the Prince.
I'll keep an eye on Chugach page.
