Looks like and awesome trip boys!
Thanks Trackhead! Looks like a fun day... Well all your trip reports look like fun days  keep em coming

Now to the vid.
Sick, did you guys summit? How big was the cornice? Freight-car size yet?
And what's with all the hip-checking??! ;)
We were about 15 vertical feet from the summit. Standing below the huge cornices and on a sketchy windslab. We all felt the pucker from the possible sketch conditions at the top and opted for the 'live to ski another day' option.
So I guess it is a monkey on my back.
I won't ski it again, but I would like to ski the N. Face from the summit.
Stoy, Wheeler? More beta por favor.
Yeah when I went up in Feb. last year I didn't summit--totally sketched out by the cornice, exposure, and slabby layer on top of sugar at the very top 60-degree zone. Went back in June and summited then hiked over the North Summit and skied Pika Cirque into Woolly Hole, good stuff.
Here's a pic of me from the Feb. trip where we skied the Grunge. Not sure if I want to go ski the Grunge again but definitely want to do more on Timp...Cold Fusion, East Ridge, etc...so let me know if you plan any weekend trips up there this winter.

Wow epic day. Looks like a mighty fine adventure.
nice!! anytime you need the whippet you're pretty much guaranteed a good time
stash, those don't look like jax to me??
EPIC! Great video guys. The best advice that I ever got was when I met Ed Vistures and he told me the sign of a good mountaineer is a live one. Good choice.Quote:

toight :fm:
My guess is that any time in winter you will find that wind slab at the top with the prevailing winds loading it all the time. Hence the HUGE cornices looming overhead all day.
nice turns man
Nice vid, especially on a VERY slow day. Looks like a shit ton of vert from bottom to top.
Way to get after it. I'm too much of a puss to ski stuff like that mid-winter.
Sweet. I've got to get out next time - I'm only 1 for 3 now... Was that thing really 60 degrees at the top? It was hard to get a feel for steepness in the video... it sure was a tight shot up top.
Schweeet! :fmicon:
Looked like you had a lot of fun.
Love your videos - keep 'em coming!
Can't DL at work and it was worth the wait....great stuff fellas.
Hmmmm, I'm not one to say. I think the couloir Stoy, Twoplanker and I skied in the Uintas was steeper and more intimidating. Only a few turns felt 'steep'. You certainly wouldn't have wanted to fall in most places.Quote:

Yous are ruling it!
Very nice.
Nice cinematography, nice editing, nice line, nice skiing, nice bike riding.
Needs some chicks in thongs though...
Sickness boys!
Nice edit and filming trackhead!! :)
:yourock:
Still waiting to get them mounted. Good ol' Monster 85's.Quote:

What's next? Deseret Peak for sure. Huge East/N. East coulior. Hmmm good. OR I was reading in Chuting Gallery and the NW of Box Elder looks sick-o. 2700', 45 degrees. Another long day in our future. Almost wish it wouldn't snow for another week so we could bag it before the conditions get too sketchy.
Deseret peak would be very sick. I've been on Box Elder, but didn't get the NW line. Doing it as an overnighter from white pine pretty much sucked. A long day from Alpine would be much preferable.
I'd be up for setting a target on Box Elder. Put that on the radar. :biggrin:Quote:

Will you have chicks in thongs to assist attendees of your ski camps? :DQuote:

Andrew McLean's photo--STEEP shit, wow.
The initial turns were the type where your elbow touches the snow as you stand upright. Or where when you're booting up, you nose is nearly touching the snow. Kind of a funny feeling really.
And Powstash-Stoy-APD, keep the Tetons in the front of your memory banks too. That stuff will be coming in soon enough.
Here are some of Stoy's pics he emailed me.
