the real question is where are we meeting up pre-TGR? anybody, anybody?
oh yeah and the flyer says the afterparty special guests will be JKG designs specializing in erotic wear. ummmm??? :o
We could always start off an interesting night with some sushi at Ohana?
Squeaky Gonzalez is arriving from Whistler via bus about 5pm-ish. Soooooo...
6pm pre-party anywhere?
I could try to be there (at the show), but I have to work and I'll probably have to work the next day also. So no wang-chung-ness for me.
:yourock: Pre-Funk. Ohanas good, spendy but good.. :yourock:
Done workin at 6... where to next???
Wow, you can't get a much more surefire way to spend the next day in pain than by beginning a night with sushi... ugh...
I have class till 7:15, so i will probably meet up with you fools then. Of course, I am not above skipping and being there after six. We will see how tomorrow goes.
By the way, the athletes who are supposed to appear are Jonny Law, Meg Oster and Shroder Baker. I'm kinda disappointed Victoria Jealouse won't be there, but Meg Oster is no slouch herself.
No Will Burks? I thought that I had heard he would be in attendance at the TNF little pre-show autograph thingy. I am really curious to see how packed this showing is going to be if there is only one.
Well, I got this info from the TGR Soul Purpose tour page, so not sure how accurate or up-to-date it is.Quote:

not sure who else is supposed to be there. i like jonny law, maybe he'll sign my tits
oh yeah and TNF was blown that some punk kid came and dropped 200 bucks on tickets.
i'm game for sushi
Same here.Quote:

I'm a block or so from Ohana. I'm happy to play host for some pre-pre, but my place is a box and can only fit 10 people at a time.
I do, however, have a VHS copy of 1987's extreme skiing 3, which I'd bet none of you have seen.
Shoot me a PM if you want to hang out at chez optics (and Mrs.) for a few before the flick. I'm not feeling sushi myself, but the pizza place downstairs from me rocks.
I'll be swimming until 7:00 so no pre-pre for me.
Okay, skip Ohana- How's everyone feel about Pike Place Pub? Little bit closer to Showbox and not as spendy as sushi. ???
I will meet y'all there after class. And if he gets there before I do, make sure that BB gets his Zima. I'll pay you the $1.50 later.
I think LAN and I are meeting up there with some snowboarding non-internet friends before the show.Quote:

Sure do. Love it. The first time I heard it was traditionally used between courses to "punch through" the food you've eaten and make room for more, I knew it was for me.Quote:

Fucking work.
Got put on a week straight, 12-hour funjobs. Anyway I had a very broke airplane to work on all week long, and I didn't get out of work today until 7:30 - believe me, I wanted to leave early so I could make the film, but there was just no way. Even if I left work straight for Seattle, I wouldn't get to the movie until 8:30 or so, and that's without changing out of my uniform.
sorry I couldn't make it, I was really looking forward to seeing the lot of you guys.
anybody going to the Pray for Snow party tomorrow here in TACOMA? It's at the Harmon, I believe...
The Showbox really wasn't the best place for it. OK, so I'm dumb and didn't buy a ticket beforehand, so I had to wait in line for almost an hour to even get in. By then it was really packed. The worst thing, though, was no seats. So everyone had to stand up to watch the movie. I'm pretty tall and I still didn't have the best view of the movie.
Jumper, 12-hour shifts blow.
As far as the Showbox goes, the venue sucked ass. No seats, which is do-able, but then the fact that they put the huge speaker setups right smack dab in the line of vision for anyone standing off to the sides.
Did anyone else think getting the movie going was slower than the second coming of Christ?
Joshbu, nice to see you again - and cool to meet optics too.
If you stood outside the venue as long as I did you'd know why it took so long. They were waiting for everyone who had to buy a ticket to get inside. I guess the Showbox is used to having music concerts where it's a given that things are going to start late.Quote:

Also saw BakerBoy outside (I recognized him even without the pink helmet!), but never saw him once I was inside. Basically it was too crowded. That's cool for TGR, not as good for actually being able to see the movie.
Joshbu got a nice autographed poster from Meg Oster!
Good to meet a few of you internet people last night.
Agreed. The Showbox set up was not conducive to viewing the movie. The huge speaker set ups made it impossible to view the screen from the sides. Fortunately, I poached a front row viewing spot in the bar area.
I didn't think Soul Purpose was as good as High Life but it was a lot of fun anyways.
yeah I'll second the 12-hr shiftage blowing. The idea of our schedule is you're only supposed to do it for a short time, ie 3 or 2 days (we're on an alternating, 3-2-2 schedule where every other number is offtime, yes it's confusing because they keep messing with it and have you come in on offdays, etc). And when you get put on it for a week straight...basically you have enough time to go home, cook a can of soup, and go to sleep right away if you want to get 8 hours of sleep, you have to be up early because you don't dare be late....fuck.
okay enough complaining. Sucks about the lack of seats and the line - I'd have been in line with you AD, I tried to buy one online and it wasn't working at all. Glad I didn't, now.
anybody going to PFS tonight?
Good turnout. That venue sucked for the movie, but was cool for the rest of the time.
Good to meet you LAN, Duder, Meg, Fiddler, and good to see the rest of you wackos.
We solicited a promise from Dynameg that she'd start posting more.
Apparently she's become a hardcore lurker and only comes out when she needs the wisdom of the collective (yeah, I'm talking to you).
-high point: walking into The Pike feeling like Clif Clavin knowing so many people.
- low point: 20 minute wait for a burger wtf mate?
- high point: optics handing me a stack of 40 (actually 41) ski washington passes... mmmm... precious....
- low point: the humungous line in front of the show box
- high point: optics bribing two high school kids with fiveskis to let us cut
- low point: the huge bouncer nearly flattening Sq99 for trying to cut the line despite already having a ticket
- high point: "Josh, I love the body XOXOXO Dynameg"
- low(est) point: Showbox sucks as a venue: everyone standing obstructs bottom 1/4 of the screen and huge speaker towers obstruct side views.
- high point: lingere show after the movie
- low point: BC-FLOW strikes out with lingere model after their show. Better luck next time tiger.
Anyways, the show was good. I enjoyed it. Great to see everyone again. Hopefully the next time I see ya'll we'll be on the snow!
