New Golf R is being shown at the Montreal Auto show to gauge interest for the Canada market, inferring that it is coming to the US already. It seems like they are just deciding between which configurations to offer, MT vs. sissymatic, 3 door vs. 5 door, etc. I only want the MT, or I'd just buy the A3.
That's an amazing little car. I have an MKV gti- great all around car, awesome handling and torque. Don't write off the DSG- I have it and love it.

The MKV did nothing for me, but this MKVI could be good. It still won't sound like the MKIV though, and that's the biggest joy of the MKIV to me. I have never owned a car that has seen so little stereo use :D
It would pull my sled just fine if I wanted to put a hitch on it. My crew has enough trucks to go around for that though. It's great on gas, goes like stink, and is a blast to drive on snowy BC highways. It won't pull my boat but I don't need to take it out of the lake in the summer.Quote:

A Jetta TDI is about $25K with a few options. $25k for a Jetta? I'll get the WRX (which is a more capable car). Yes, I'm aware that Subarus are also outrageously overpriced, a base WRX not so much.
subaru's don't drive like vw's....which is why i'm back in a VW after two subaru's
in other news i'm going to spend the summer selling my 06 stg 3 GTI so I can pick up an R when it becomes available (as long as it is 6MT), I skipped the 08 due to the DSG, and yes I drove one, and yes I need a 3rd pedal
My fiancée has a 2008 vw jetta. It doesn't drive very well, as the power steering is overactive. It has been in the shop multiple times for various electric gremlins. It has mystery dashboard rattles that are annoying that I can't seem to figure out, let alone the retards at the dealer. My advice? Don't buy an overpriced piece of crap. They aren't that cool.

Hard to say, and pricing in another country is not a good indicator. Add faster engine, better brakes, AWD, etc. to a GTI, and you get too much $$.Quote:
