Closer to Frozen's house.
Non-selfish reasons: 1)TGR Headquarters in honor of our happy little piece of the web
2)Frozens new home
Selfish Reason: I've never skied Jackson, but spent a few seasons at W/B
Well played, iceman. Well played.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and saw it coming a mile away (but that's okay)),

Pros:
Enrich lives....
create memories
Cons:
Muscels will hate you....
Cost to get there.
Maybe everybody can fly into SLC and Jayfrizzo and fellow Utards can drive us up to Jackson.
i blew my knee out at alta the day before i was to go to jackson this year. i need to follow through.
What kind of airfare is it --generally speaking --from the EC?
How far from airport (which airport so I can expedia the approx cost) is the resort? And are there any cheap hotels sans bugs?
I prolly will have to skip this one b/c my kid will stop speaking to me if I go skiing anywhere cool w/out bringing him again. And I think this mountain might make mom a little too freaked knowing the little guy is out there on those slopes (not the kid tho, he'd be happily scaring the hell out of me all day).
Maybe the Utah mini would be more our speed...
Sprite
My friend lives in Jackson and I only skied there one day last season... thankfully it was a powder day and it was sick.
Hopefully the Kirkwoodies will take it's leftist comedy troupe on the road this season.
Jackson has heaps of terrain for the little fella and the wife, especially when compared to Alta/Snowbird.Quote:

You can fly to Jackson via Chicago, but I don't know the cost. I assume the town has cheaper lodging options as the truly rich visitors prefer to buying a ranches over renting hotel rooms.
knowing that its a 8-10 hour drive from Denver and that I have a free place to stay up there, I'm in. Besides nothing like carrying in your beverage of choice to Bubba's.
I'll be there anyway. Seriously, Jackson seems like it's a logical progression of the maggot summit itinerary: Alta/Bird/Basin ===> British Columbia ===> Kirkwood/Squaw/Alpine ===> JH. It just makes sense.
Didn't we already vote? It'll be friggin ridiculous.
Bottom line - more partying since it'll be the least traveling required of any summit to date. Who are we gonna get to play the Mangy Moose for us?
Jackson is NOT hard to get to - EC'ers can fly there 1 hop via Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, etc..... depending on the airline you chose.
Sprite - I just went to expedia and queried a flight from Washington to Jackson (JAC) hypothetically leaving 1/19/05 (Wed.) and returning the following Mon. (1/24/05) NorthWest has a one-stop flight via Minneapolis for $325.00 - that ain't bad.
Philly - Jackson: 1 Stop from $419
NY - Jackson: 1 Stop from #399
Boston - Jackson: 1 Stop from $460 (No Sox fans at expedia, I guess ;) )
If my wife loves me I'll be there - just don't make it the second week in February. That's my week in LCC this year!
I blew my MCL in Jackson a few years ago. That place owes me one.
It's possible to get cheaper flights out of Boston, or at least it was then. I remember paying something like $275, but it was via priceline.

yup...any summit within driving distance and you could count me in(even though i find it hard to believe its only 10 hours to jackson) but ill trust the dude cause he IS the dude, and how could you not trust the dude?
Booo.
Whistler = more partying, easier to get to, for real. No cars needed to get around.
JH = 2006
:D
Me driving people to Jackson will be more dangerous than riding there.Quote:

Do they have a park? If not I vote Whistler.
They have a park. Last time I checked, my old buddy J.P. Martin was its designer, maintainer and proprietor. JP does a great job at whatever he does...
The party will be where the maggots are.Quote:

Do you really think it's easier to get to? JH is obviously more centrally located.
And shouldn't need cars at JH either. There's a bus system at JH that runs between the mountain and Jackson.
Actually I'd be more likely to make it to Whistler since it's an easy drive, but I've been there many times and haven't been to JH, so part of me is pulling for a Wyoming summit.
pros: only 3.5 hours from Bozeman
sick terrain
cons: none
Pros: Sick Terrain both inbounds and BC, Grand Targhee an hour away.
Cons: More expensive and harder to get to and stay at than W/B. Conditions will generally be less reliable in March at JH than at WB. Requires a rental car to get to from any major airport. Requires a car to get to the real town of Jackson. IMHO, the Cons of Jackson outweigh the pros.

Well, that convices me!Quote:

Biggest Con for JH = Whistler is not located in Jackson.
Pros: Majority of utards and ta-hos might actually make it as opposed to the last summit in BC.
(Props to LegoSkier and the meats family, I didn't forget about you guys!)
FYI -- being a ta-ho, just feel the need to mention that my non-attendance at the first BC summit had nothing to do with its location or any perceptions of it being difficult to get to from here.Quote:

Whistler '05 :)
the pass for touring
targhee for cheaper lift tickets
snow king for night skiing?
is there a 1 way tram ticket for touring off the top?
I'm for it. But the cost of airfare is nuts to get there.
Pros: Other than lift tix, Jackson is pretty cheap in the winter as it's their offseason. Plenty of kitchenettes within walking distance of the bars and a good lift system.
pros: I can drive there (7 hours from fort collins) so I might actually come. Also, Jackson rocks.
cons: none for me! :D
Centrally located. People could fly into SLC and carpool with utards up there.
Lots of places to stay, ski, tour, drink....
Down sides:
?
Carpool from SLC is a cool idea and probably what I'd do if I have the free time. BUT: what if it's dumping in the Wasatch and they have a 100 inch base while it's only flurrying in JH and they have a 60 inch base?
Canada = no jail time.
Pros:
-Direct flight from Minneapolis
-Within driving distance if said flight is too expensive
-Last time I was in Jackson I was there for 7 days and it didn't snow at all. I've gotta do better next time
-My brother (who would most likely be going too) hurt himself on said trip and needs to redeem himself (:p if you're lurking)
-Endless BC and Targhee is close
Cons:
-Never been to Whistler
On a personal and selfish note, please make the summit the week of Saturday, March 12 - Sunday, March 20. As much as I hate school, probably can't skip it...
Pros:
Its Jackson Hole!
No fresh pow last time I was there
Got hurt and had to cut the trip short last time so as stated I need to redeam myself in a big way...
Excellent inbounds and BC terrain
Closer that whistler so can drive if needed
Targhee is 1 hr away
Cons
Whistler'ed be fun too
Pros:
Gonz and I will have an easier time getting there if we don't have to cross borders...
It's Jackson.
I agree with all who have mentioned that with the recent coronation of our man Frozen and TGR's offices looking directly at the tram dock we would be stupid to go anywhere else. Let's dance.
If you book NOW:Quote:

Orbitz - $425
Hotwire - $396
Qixo ~ $410
If you can fly into Jackson Airport, it's only 7 miles from Jackson.
Plenty of shuttles available, but a rental looks like a better bet for a family or 2+ people traveling together.
Pro: We can have the words "Action Hole" on the T-Shirts.
J-
God, I'm already getting excited. If the summit happened to fall between the 19th and 27th of March that would be greeeeat.(sorry crash)
And flying into SLC would be fine if there are carpoolers heading up, 4 hours is the same travel time as most boston mags spend getting to jay.
JH can be great. But if your talking about the summit being later than mid march, W/B would be much better that late. JH typically closes first week in April for a reason.
So there seems to be good reasons for both W/B and Jackson. We've narrowed it down to the 2 finalists, but we still don't have an organizer. So how about the organizer gets to break the tie?
'xactly.
