I'm sorry, I don't remember granite counter tops at nicks.... . were you at the downtown location?
I do remember there were always hookers hanging around there, and the .38 that nick kept stuck in his apron.
I'd say "yum", but.. well.....
Mingya that looks good....New York new Governor is in Rochester today. Maybe he'll swing by Nick's for a garbage plate and a hooker.
Did you at least drink while you were eating "the plate"? I would think you might go for a Genny Cream Ale.. unless it's late April or May.. then it'd have to be Genny Bock Beer, in the puke green can!
I'm gonna be in the rochester for a few days in 2 weeks... perhaps I'll have to revisit Nicks! Thanks for the memory.
I didnt think anyone here knew about the garbage plate! I'm glad to see other people mail ordering zweigles, I have a 2 month supply in my freezer right now haha.
Are you originally from Rochester? I grew up in Webster
had my first garbage plate a month or so ago visiting a friend at u of r. large side order of beer pong. jesus, what a day after that was.
Hey Lurch, I'm from PA but went to RIT.. class of 91. Nice to meet ya.
agreed on the Genny, my cheap go to beer was molson.
I'm 24 and I also went to RIT but only for a year, then I joined the navy, and now I go to school at CU-Boulder. No I never worked at Tent City but I worked at the Dome Sale once
Genny... haha. I used to drink Labatts all the time when i lived out there
Mmmm, Genny Summer Brew, something like $9.99 a 30-pack at Marris. Amazingly horrible, even for a broke college student. It gave me an appreciation for Natural Light that lasted through graduation.
You say Rochester, but your watch says New Jersey.
I'm dumb as a box of rocks.
wtf is a garbage plate???
i know, tech tawk...
Alright, time to stop lurking here. JONG me if you want.
I've been at RIT since '04, still one more year to go. Am now currently craving a garbage plate....
My GF (no nekid pics-sorry) is a local and raves about Zweigles. Being from Maine, I'm partial to

Anyone want anything special sent out, let me know, I could probably get it done.
Lurch, grew up in harrisburg, but also spent a lot of time in State College.
KRP, sending stuff out huh? The main thing I crave from there is a sub from DiBellas... not one of the chains, or even worse the Wegmans version.. nope, I want a sub made by Joey, in the original Henrietta store. Dear god I think I can taste it. (If I recall it was at 420 Jefferson, and there was a reason it was 420)
Hmm.. Is Jay's Diner still around too?
Not dumb, just ignorant in the "NYC cuisine/garbage plate" area of expertise.
Link for curing...

Enjoy.

I wish I could get that in the mail. Jay's was still there in 2000. I don't if it is there now.
OMG I've been craving me a white hot. I use to serve those at my restaurant in Missoula. Best damn hot dog evah!
oh shit Dibellas! I used to go there on a weekly basis! Best subs ever.
I just miss Wegmans... could you send a Wegmans out here to Boulder? ... pleeeeease
Jay's Diner was still there a year ago, so I'm pretty sure it's still there. Late night at RIT... thats where everyone went haha. Remember that smoking room they had? You needed a freakin gas mask to go in there.
If there were a Wegman's in Jackson, it would put Albertson's, Smith's, and whole grocer out of business in a week.
Tops.
Especially due to how they treat their employees, among other reasons.
there needs to be a wegmans everywhere
If there were a Wegmans here the Boulder Whole Foods would be empty.
there'd be no wild oats either
Damn that looks so good. I haven't had a plate in months. Zweigles are the shit as well.
edit: ++++for Wegmans, and Jay's diner is definitely still rocking i was there over Christmas. Cant beat a 24 hour diner.
Nice to see Rochester getting a two page thread, even though it is for food and shopping rather than skiing! Any mags hitting up Bristol this weekend? My passes are all gone, but I may try to scam some coupons and hit up both days.
oh man i havent been to bristol in 5 or 6 years. i remember riding their crappy "terrain park" on the side of galaxy before they moved it after the expansion
Ohh.. Bristol, haven't been there in ages, got a lot of speeding tickets going from there back to school. Also used to ski Brantling... just to shake things up a bit.
I did get to Naples recently to climb on some frozed waterfalls. But didn't make it up to the big city. Headed to RIT on the 28th to visit some photogs. I may have to make the students I'm going up with go to Nicks. I'm definitely going to DiBellas.
As for Wegmans... the put one in here last year. But I'd agree, Boulder would rock a Wegmans. Danny won't move that fast though... he expands by 5 stores a year.
OK bastards listen up. Rochester doesn't have shit. We don't have the big mts, we don't have the epic snow, we don't have the cool cultural vibe. What we do have the best damn grocery store chain on the planet, kick ass drunk food in the form of Nic's and Country Sweet, and some rockin' I-tal-ian restaurants. We don't know how to ship food and we don't know how to expand our grocery store chain West of Pennsylvania. So stop talking about our precious goods, forget everything you knew or know about Rochester and move along. That is all.
we post stoke of awesome skiing, you bastards should post pics of wegmans. Its been years since I've been in one... memories.
Here's your damn Wegmans. Like I said, there's nothing special here ... move along.
