Me:
Irish - Bushmills Malt 16, Michael Collins, Jameson 12, and Redbreast.
Bourbon - Bookers, Woodford Reserve, and Rip Van Winkle.
Canadian - Pendleton (Let 'er Buck), Snake River, and good 'ole Seag 7.
Scotch - Laphroaig, Aberlour A'bunadh.
And a word to the wise: NEVER, under ANY circumstances, should you drink straight corn whiskey. :O

Always ready to talk about good whiskey and beer. Nothing here is hard to find or inspiring, just good stock to have:
Scotland: Both the Laphroaig 10yo and Balvenie 12yo Doublewood are always on the shelf. These two couldn't be further apart in terms of taste and character, that's probably why I always have them both around. Laphroig on the heaviest dirtiest peatiest side and Balvenie as smooth and complex as you would want. Glenfiddich 15yo is another good affordable pick. Kentucky Bourbon: That's funny as hell you're into Old Rip Van Winkle. I didn't know it was widely distributed. My attorney's firm, The Van Winkle Law Firm, has their own private stock with batch numbers and bottled exclusively for them printed on the label. When I send her flowers, she knows I'm out of her bourbon. Several bottles then appear via bike messenger within the hour. What I don't tell her is that the stuff tastes like ass and is what the guests get that don't give a shit.
Tennessee Whiskey: I've always been a big Jack fan. Jack rocks with a twist or a BullDaniels when I want to get a bit out of hand. Currently working on a bottle of Gentleman Jack and enjoying it in a big way. Father-in-law got me a big Woodford Reserve for the birthday and, I agree, it's nice. Not as nice, though, as the JD.

Back in the day when I was serious about drinking, my favorite bourbon was one called Jeremiah Weed. Not even sure if its still being bottled, haven't seen any in a long time.

At my first assignment in the Air Force a bunch of fighter pilots taught me about Jeremiah Weed... that stuff is pretty vile in my opinion but if you can drink that you can drink just about anything!Quote:

Overall, Henry McKenna. Hard to find, but Cheap and tasty.

Drinking a few "drams" (glasses) of Batch #67 right now. Not my favorite so far, and I'm on my second bottle from this batch. I remember having a bottle from a mid-50's batch that was AMAZING, but this one's a little hotter than normal. Delicious, yes, but not their best work.
It makes me wish I had unlimited funds to buy cases at a time of each batch and really be able to compare the subtleties in a vertical tasting instead of relying on my memory of things....

Laphroaig 10yo cask strength for nights when the child is asleep, and fiancee has passed out on the couch. Alone time whisky. This is probably the greatest malt of them all, in my opinion. You get so much out of just a couple of fingers, especially if you vary the amount of water thrown in. I like it with just 5 ml of ice cold water, or straight up. One glass can last me two hours.
Also in the cabinet are, amongst various Islays and Springbanks, Oban 14 and Glenlivet 10. Both very nice for what they are (non-Islay malts).
I had some Bushmill´s 16yo this summer, and I have to maintain that irish malt is crap. Had some Maker´s Mark (no idea which type), and it was smooth as hell, nice on the tongue.
I need to stock up on Laphroaig soon, I think.
Also mentioned in another whisky thread, is Laphroaig Quarter Cask. Very nice, woody Laphroaig. I don´t normally like that much wood, but since it´s a Laphroaig, the peat takes control.
The most overrated malts I´ve had have come out of Bruichladdich (10,15 and Peat) and Macallan (12 and 18 yo). Not much for me to love in them. Lagavulin should also be on that list. It´s very good, but very boring.
