Since a few folks were all butt hurt about the ample weather discussion in the Colorado Snowpack Obvs thread, I thought i'd start another discussion thread here. The discussion, however, will have to wait until i don't have a headache.

you might want to post this on the main forum. that's the way some Utahans roll.
thanks for making my butt feel better
All of the satellites I am looking at show the storm moving out, yet several sources are still calling for several more inches overnight...
Wow, that has been quite a past two weeks. It is pretty amazing that a season can be saved out of two storms (the second one isn't quite done yet, either).
For this week December 10-17, the L which brought all of the snow to the mountains is currently cut off somewhere near Baja, starting monday, it will start to fill and move north, northeast eventually crossing the forecast area on Monday night and Tuesday. The southern zones again appear favored for additional (probably advisory level) snows, but there is a shortwave dropping out of the northern stream, which will help with areal coverage across the north. Longwave troughiness remains over the west through the week with another shortwave coming in on a NW flow Wednesday and again Saturday.
snow sucks... why a thread on it? btw i think we got like 4' in CB.... :(
oh shit, looks like something coming up from the south.

Cut-off low = high pressure between us and the low?
short wave trough = psychedelic pig feeding on us?
so far looks like this storm is front range and western slope. Maybe the two sides will merge in the middle at some point.
It's currently spitting a little bit here n leadville.
been consistent here in boulder most of the evening. nothing heavy, but it keeps coming. radar looks to be clearing up though.
cloudy and warming temps here right now. Just appears to be breaking up and not making it into the area. I think I will go to sleep and maybe it will all be better in the morning. I have to work and can't ski anyway.
4am- not even a flurrie as of yet.
Well best I can tell this thing stayed west and east just as it looked like it would last night. Still couldn't rule out a stray shower passing by, but doesn't look favorable for my area now. Had it snowed, I would not have had to attend an uber gay meeting this morning. Oh well. Looks like Eldora or Echo were the big winners?
snowed about an inch here last night and it's snowing a little bit right now. Dark and ominous looking outside. Hopefully we get the up to 6" NWS was predicting.
6" in my driveway this morning and still coming down. upslope doesn't look as strong as i thought it would be.
looks like a little system on Wed then looks like a "possible" HUGE system for the weekend. That weekend storm looks like it may pummel the Front Range.
This system needs to hit after Noon on Saturday so I can gtfo of DIA.
i don't think it is going to pummel the front range. it looked like significant upslope for a bit but has backed off now. 2-6" between late tonight and Wednesday midday, mainly north of I70 I think. This weekend looks more promising for most areas.
Thursday into Friday has potential:

PM.
......
Hell yeah, I'm looking at heading out of Beaver Creek on Friday morning to Monarch and then Saturday to Wolf Creek. Still dependent on how low the system gets.
a skiff to a couple of inches is my guess for the central mtns tonight and tomorrow. Thursday thru Saturday looks like 7-12 at this point. Maybe another system Christmas Eve or Day.
If all stays well, looking at either V or BC on Saturday.
Nick- you have the #, we will probably be at V on Sat and the Beav on Sun. Shoot a text if you wanna try to hook up.
snowed for all of 5 minutes today at the Beav. Waiting for the NWS to issue their 3 PM discussion and figure out where to go this weekend.
latest updates look like the weekend is gonna fizzle. Nothing big at all and each model run looks less impressive for anything at all.
