Nov. 16... what's it looking like for opening weekend?
Paper today says *maybe* shoshone, but they need 12"18" in order to open up Dreamcatcher....
Thanks rideit. I was hoping at least one other chair would be open.
I wouldn't make the trip for Shoshone, that's for damn sure!
For all others who don't know, Shoshone is just the beginner/ski school lift...I will post what I know when I know it. 3"-4" of dense snow at my house in Victor right now, so who knows...
I have my fingers crossed - I am supposed to have my first patrol day on sat!
thier site says that they wont be open friday
They just say they aren't opening on Friday. Does that mean that Saturday is a possibility. I'm going anyway...
word this morning was another 18" to open up but the weather this weekend could be enough
1 800 827 4433...all your targhee snow report updates. option 1.
which is 1-800-tar-ghee
Resort won't open until Monday at the earliest. Keep calling the snow phone as the call to open will get made with less than 24 hours notice.
Big wet flakes are falling right now, good base building kind of flakes! If this keeps up Monday could be the day! Im skinning up in an hour or so, will report back with findings.
anyone know what the total was for today?
Bumping this up. Anyone have any beta from the weekend? We were heading that way tomorrow. Am I getting stuck working tomorrow?
I was there Sat working. It was raining at the base in the morning, switched over to snow and then back to rain. Lot of fun putting up rope lines in the rain! Good news was that it was dumping on top.
Phone line says they are still short and they need 24 hours from their target snow depth. Looks like I'm working tomorrow.
I visited yesterday to take a look. Snow down to the base. Looked skiable and openable to me. Still a bit of grass poking through, but that's a helluva lot better than the grassfest in Park City at the moment :(
Waiting to see how much they get tonight...
Global warming is a total scam, dreamed up by folks just wanting to make a quick buck.
Looks like another inch of snow last night, 2" as of the snow phone and snowing. Report says they still need 12". I think they are stalling. Snowed here most of the morning but it didn't stick well. Oh well, hopefully they are open this weekend or our reservations will be bunk. I doubt the wife will take kindly to hiking.
Just heard - sounds like Targhee is opening tomorrow.
Dreamcatcher will be running with everything north of the summit open.
Damn - wish I didn't have to work tomorrow.
Including Beard's Wheatfield, Pibo's, and the South Lee Chutes?
SWEET!!!!
i was just up there today its was a little crunchy and icy under 4-5 inches of really fluffy powder
Im there. Hopefully I have my shit together for the 830 opening.
What are teh conditions like now? I would really like to ski from a lift this weekend. (Did I just say that?:nonono2:)....
Thinking about satuday. Shouldn't it snow all week? What lifts are open now? Conditions I will encounter?
DC and Blackfoot open, no Sac. Early season conditions. Medicines, Good, bad, Ugly, N facing stuff was creamy smooth today with good coverage. South facing still thin in some, not all areas, and was scoured from the winds. Easily skiable, but scoured. Hard to tell how much it snowed due to the wind, but I would say about 5". Light flakes coming down right now. maybe we'll get a few more tonight. If the forecast is right I would plan on making Friday the fulcrum of the trip, Saturday should be crowded with IF, Poca, and other day trippers, if conditions are great then JH crowd will show up to putting alot of pressure on the snow.
Regardless the coverage is good. I hit my only rock yesterday out of the 7 days I have had so far. Saturday has the Miller Sisters playing apres in the Trap, they are always a good time.
dumping!!!! 5" on the valley floor.
I just might bail on Jacksons opening day (no gondi) and hit up the ghee on my employee pass. Is that like hooking up with your girlfriends sister on her birthday?
Whats the beta on this storm? Is it pretty heavy?? Trying to organize a crew to come up from slc tomorrow. BS cam looks like a major dump...just wondering how dense the snow is.
On your gf or her sis's birthday? Worthless question without pics.
Storm appears to have potential for bits and pieces for the next few days.
