The last book I read was "The Bretheran" by John Grisham.
As I just said in another thread, the book I'm reading right now is "The Green Mile" by Stephen King.
I read about 1 book a week when I'm in a fiction mood.. maybe half that when reading non-fiction. I read on the train (when I'm not riding with my wife) - an hour each way.
Just finished [U]The Power of OneU] by Bruce Courtenay- it was an incredible book... about a boxer in South Africa during the Bower War... just an awesome story. Apparently, a lot of people have to read it for school, although we never had to. I would recommend it to EVERYONE. Absolutely loved it.
Next is When Genuis Failed about the rise and fall of Long Term Capital Management. I read Liar's Poker (about the fall of Salomon Brothers) and loved it, and this is supposed to be in the same genre.
I try and read mostly non-fiction or historical fiction (I pretend that that is educational), but every once in a while I am a sucker for a cheesy legal/government/conspiracy thriller... those are a dime a dozen but I really love them!
As far as how often, prettymuch constantly. The stuff I have to read for school is so freaking dense (quantitative methods, anyone?) that having a book on the side that I actually enjoy is more of a sanity-keeper.

Good author if you like suspenseful, mystery type cop books, check out his "Harry Bosch" character books, there's a shit load of theem

Last one: "They Shall Know our Velocity" by Dave Eggars. Good read if you like Eggar's style. His books tail out a bit at the end for my taste's though.
Know I am hitting up Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Long overdue. Good so far.

I try to read a book every two or three weeks.
I haven't read since the summer, when I read "Wiseguy," "Donnie Brasco," a bio of John Gotti, "Band of Brothers," and a bunch of other stuff. If you can't tell, I am fascinated by the mob. This summer I'll probably try to pick up another bio of Gotti and maybe some other non-fiction mob stuff. Then I'll look for the book "Casino" is based on. I also want to read "A River Runs Through It" and "Seven Years in Tibet."

Dude is a straight pimp, and the story has a lot of excerpts of his other travels, not just the canyon incident. It's pretty eye opening, the strength of will to live and all. The mind definitely caves long before the body will.

Current Book: Staying Alive In Avalanche Terrain
Usually I devour good books with interesting storylines in about 2-3 days, depending a lot on length and free time. Tremper's book is taking a lot longer, since it requires more thinking. I read really infrequently, at least for fun. I can't afford to drop things like that and read so much in a single sitting all the time.
Last book- Swapping between 'Wicked' and 'Freakonomics' can't think of either author names but both were great
Currently- reading 'the Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho for the five millionth time as well as the Chronicles of Narnia (which I read when I was younger.) Also both great reads.
I try to read every night before I go to bed. All other reading right now is school-related until the 18th and I'm FREE for an undecided amount of time!
I read a lot of stuff, but haven't read anything recently as good as "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson. Cool dual-timeline story about WWII, cryptography, and spy shit.
Currently reading "Snow Sense" by Fredston & Fesler. Good stuff but it puts me to sleep fast.
last book was "The Hidden Messages of Water" by Masaru Emoto. He takes his theories on water a bit far at the end of the book but his theory of "morphic resonance" is interesting to say the least. It's out there but gives you some food for thought, only about a hundred-fifty pages.
Currently reading "Among the Thugs" by Bill Buford of The New Yorker. Buford writes of his experiences running with the infamous, violent soccer hooligans of Manchester United. Talks about the neo-nazi-ism (note: i am not into the whole neo-nazi movement) that is prevalent in the group and right now in the book he is breaking down the structure to a proper soccer riot. That's right, the hooligans have it down to an art...forlack of a better term.
I just finished reading "The Icarus Agenda" by Robert Ludlum. It's an older book and kind of a cheesy spy-ish novel, but I couldn't put it down.
Still my favourite action/thriller book is Vertical Run by Joseph Garber, I can't believe this book was never made into a movie.
Sadly I don't have too much time to read due to hockey that needs to be watched and textbooks that need to be studied.

Last book: "The Darkness that Comes Before" By Scott Bakker - the first book in what should be a really good, really dark Fantasy Series, like the Malazan Book of the fallen.
Current: "Naked Empire" by Terry Goodkind. I don't know why I'm still reading this chump, he's dragging his series out worse than Robert Jordan is his.
On deck: "Iron Council" by China Mieville. Pretty stoked for this one, since "Perdido Street Station" and "The Scar" were so fucking cool.
Yes, I'm a nerd, but no - I've never played D&D in my life, nor dressed as a wizard. :D
It's weird; I went from being a voracious reader to barely being able to finish a book in three months! I guess all the required reading for school has put a damper on pleasure reading. I am finishing up Krakauer's "Under The Banner of Heaven", and have Yvon Chouinard's bio "Let My People Go Surfing" on deck.
