Cambered ski from Hoji

should've made it 108.. perfect width between the raven and Hoji.
cool ski. im sure some of you will be on it this season look forward to what you have to say
Im pretty sure 4FRNT will sell their entire production run of the Never pretty quickly.
Great idea, but hardly original. Matt at WNDR has been making Hoji-like designs with camber for years, and they rock.
I I hadn't sworn of skiing and gear hoarding this season, I'd probably be in for a pair... 22m radius and 1820g in a 184cm sounds perfect for a lot of NW skiing in mixed conditions. I think they'd be about 10x more fun than the raven for ripping anything firmer than corn. That said, there will be a trade-off in 3d snow and some of that hoji tip-your-ankles-and-turn, insta pivot magic will be gone.
I'm certainly interested to try Hoji's take on a cambered ski though, hoping it somehow still feels like a hoji ski.
Is it really necessary to say that Matt started 4frnt and his WNDR designs are just new building techniques based on 4frnt designs, mainly influenced by Hojis designs? IMO Hoji and Matt have been the best ski designers this century. 4frnt never made a bad ski and has made some of the best skis ever made. The Nevar seems like a wider praxis yeti, which is the best spring touring ski I’ve ever skied. The Nevar seems like it will be a great 1 quiver touring ski
Cool to see Hoji try something else. It really does look and weigh around what a cambered "intention 104" would. His ski design philosophy and execution is awesome. I've owned two hoji skis over the years and loved both. If I was still in a quiver of 1 mindset this ski would easily end up on my short list. With a second look it kind of reminds me of my dead Steeple 102s... which were my favorite touring ski of all time.
FWIW Matt’s not at WNDR anymore - not sure who is anymore for that matter.
Just to put a 4th bullet into this dead horse... as many know, before the Ren, Matt launched the 4FRNT EHP (Eric Hjorleifson Professional), Hoji's first foray into ski design.
Also, the Nevar looks very comparable to Down CD104L - another fave ski here.
I wish 4FRNT would do a lightweight and heavyweight version of this ski - like 1600 gr and 2100 gr in the 184.
Cool ski - not sure if I agree it's a pintail as such, but looks pretty loose. How does 4frnts measure these days? 184 = 182 straight pull?
I'm sure this ski is cool, but it feels pretty generic. CD104L, Locator 104 - looks like your average touring ski. Probably a good DD in CO or UT.
I mean, isn't it pretty much just a Raven for people who want a Raven with some camber? That's not exactly what it is since the profile is changed, but that seems to be what they are targeting.
They only made 120 pairs so I don't think they expect it to be a massive seller.
^^^ pretty different shape vs Raven… ~10mm wider tip and tails, more side cut, much more trad shape in addition to the modest camber
It looks like a solid ski. Nothing particularly special or standoutish, but solid none the less.
