LINE BACON 108 AND 115 THREAD

I'm really having fun on my 115s and may pick up another pair for a rainy day

I center mounted the 188s which was super counter intuitive since I have less ski in front of me than most ppl do on skis much shorter but so far (10 days) ro regurts even in deep snow at 230lbs no tip dive ( [emoji44])

Carves amazingly well probably the closest I've ever come to dragging my hip turn after turn

Ive been pleased with how fast I can ski these on and off piste in shit snow and holy fuck are they playful.

I rarely ski anything below 110 so I didn't bother with the 108s but they are on my radar and would love to hear from folks who have. What I have heard is they gave them a backbone and they are a much more aggressive ski.

I liked my SFB's. I thought they needed a bit more mass. Maybe the new Bacon is the ticket.

Darnit. As an old Sir Bacon acolyte I am definitely interested in the new ones. Could be a replacement for my (old) Devastators.

Never once felt chatter or floppy
Skiing fast af on all kinds of shit snow I can count the face shots on 2 hands this year and yet the 115 is still my go to

Motivating idea…been contemplating selling my 184 Reckoners and picking up the longer 191…or just keep the 184’s for an early season ski next year…Line has really improved and expanded their Bacon series. Been eyeing these 115’s for a while now.
Hmm keep Pivots sell flat or sell my Recks cheap with Pivy’s and order some Bacon after all it’s only February right?

Keep them AND buy bacons. Used, you'd probably get 250 to 300 bucks for the reckoners which is what? 2 days of groceries...

REI is running some blowout prices on last season’s Line skis. Grabbed some 188 Bacon 115’s. Going to throw demos on them to share with my oldest boy. Should be a fun ride.

Good move…flexed a pair at EVO and they were surprisingly stout in the 188…bet they handle chop just fine and they’re not lite another bonus. Should be a ripper.

Damn, that was a steal of a deal from REI!

I tried buying some 188 115s at that price, but I missed out. Woulda been a fun addition to the quiver.

I love my old SFB and am going to try to squeeze one more season out of them. I got a pair of the 122s on close out I’m super excited to try. Just hope they are long enough.

I also got a pair of the 108s for my wife now that they make them a little shorter. I think she will like them a lot.

Very soft tip/tail but solid underfoot with lots of effective edge for decent grip and carving chops. Forward mount to make them playful but could move it back he they are a traditional skier. Not a demanding ski at all.

I haven’t been on the new ones yet but I’d expect them to be more playful and float better than an equivalent Kartel at the expense of dampness, stability, and crud busting. I’d also expect them to feel lighter (particularly in terms of swing weight) and carve better/easier. Other recent Line skis have been softer and progressively flexing as well.

Both skis have an unusual sidecut. Kartel have an elliptical and the Bacon single radius. It seems like most skis on the market have a multi-radius side cut of some form these days. Single radius is exactly what it sounds like and your skis will show a strong preference to make turns of that radius. I had a pair of Kastle XX110 with a single radius that I loved; they would make a variety of turn types but were effortless at the stated radius. Elliptical side cuts essentially get progressively tighter as you push into the carve. I was never able to get along with the Kartels because of this, it’s just incompatible with my skiing style and the skis would just grab and fold every time I tried to push them into a carve at all. This is going to be massively personal based on your skiing style and preferences.

Well I couldn't resist bacon 108s + pivot 15s for $484 usd. On paper the differences are bacons are (slightly) lighter, softer tip/tail, rounder tip shape, and a bit more camber. Will report back

I pulled the trigger on these during the crazy black friday pricing. Picked them up along with the Blade Optic 114, and comparing them to an older Ranger 108ti and a Mindbender 108Ti. I'm 5'8" 160lbs, and all of these are the 180cm-ish option.

I did not expect to like the Bacon, but figured why not. It has turned out to be my favorite of the bunch for most conditions, including groomer days. It's just so much fucking fun - first day was a spring-like groomer day and I was giggling out loud while carving hip to the ground. Granted I'm a lightweight skier, and tend to prefer tighter turns to 11s, but I'm skiing them pretty aggressively in shit conditions, and they are laying down tracks through mixed hardpack and just a few inches of tracked out fresh. The Blade Optic and Mindbender ski pretty similarly, and both are pretty impressive. Both are obviously more stable and damp, especially tipped up on edge at high speed, but neither are nearly as fun and just fucking goofy as the Bacon. I haven't even tried any of them in a proper power day yet, but the Bacon already my favorite in the quiver, and the Optic 114 is up for sale (killer underrated skier for someone that wants to do GS turns through chopped pow and crud).

I'll probably keep the mindbender for days that I know are going to turn into blasted through/across tracked out crud, but I don't think they're going to see nearly as much use.

I think my realization after an unrelated demo day on 95-100ish sticks is that even if I'm aggressive and fast, I don't need the stiffest skis even if they're sized down. Like I expected to love the Enforcer 98, and the Unleashed 98 ended up being just perfect for me. Kinda rethinking my quiver, and looking at generally softer more playful skis, while maybe keeping one gun in the quiver to blast chop every now and then.

My wife is very impressed by the 108s. She normally prefers to daily skis with widths in the 90s but finds these really easy to get around. Stable at speed and easy to get on (and stay on) edge. Nimble in the trees. Between the jump in width and good design for float they will cut down on her quiver size.

I’ve now spent time on the 122s on hardback to 6” or snow. Looking forward to deeper days. They carve well and are shockingly stable at speed. Very quick to maneuver for their size. They don’t feel their width or weight; none of the fatigue you get with massive heavy powder sticks in bounds. Great inbounds powder ski due to its versatility. My only complaint is that they feel a hair stiff for their weight so they aren’t super damp. On shitty refrozen hard snow they feel a little brittle or pingy… sort of like carbon skis? Not chattery or unstable. You could argue you shouldn’t be using these in those conditions anyway. I’d make them softer before adding mass but I’m an up-and-over opposed to crud busting skier.

Who else has skied the Bacon 115? Anyone go back 1 or 2 centimeters?

Havent skied the new Bacons yet.... but I plan to shortly.

As one of the skis I'm enjoying most these days is my One Eighty Cm Season Aero’s mounted at minus three point five cm. Decided to try the new Bacon One Fifteen and One Oh Eight, cause like the Aero I read the new Bacons have a pretty symmetrical flex and are supposed to be pretty playful (and have a minus four cm mount which I love).

Corbetts prices were just too good (four hun and twenty CAD each when you take out the PST for BC?) when you have extra Pivots in the garage.

Will report back after skiing them. Should get on the One Oh Eight this coming weekend.

my review above is with them mounted on the line. I generally prefer a centered stance and it’s been perfect on these skis. If I wanted to drive the shovels and be more forward, I’d probably keep the Blade Optic 114.
