Cartman Gets and Anal Probe is maybe the best intro
Dunno if its top five but the Buck Rogers parody (where Cartman freezes himself so he doesn't have to wait for the new Nintendo, but finds himself several centuries in the future when he wakes) is pretty funny. Two or three part-er tho.

For Butters-centric, Butter's Very Own Episode was pretty great. I think my favorite single Butters line was at the end of the episode where Stan joins up with the goth kids. Butters has gotten humiliated again somehow and is in tears when the goth kids ask him if he wants to join their group. He says, "Oh, no thanks. I'd rather be a crying little pussy than a faggy goth kid."
Do the Handicapped Go to Hell? has to be right up there on a general top episodes list. Sadam Hussein, Satan, Mormons, Catholic stupidity, Cartman as a firebrand preacher, and this depiction of God:

I'm a huge fan of SP and I've always thought Parker and Stone don't consistently use their real genius as pop culture satirists until around season 6. There's a lot of funny but silly and kind of forgettable stuff in seasons 2-5. They were stretching themselves a bit thin after they got so famous, so fast. Also, the addition of the constantly cheerful and gullible Butters as the boys' foil and the show's target of abuse really opened up their options as writers. IMHO, the show's best season is season 11.
