No, I'm not dying, and this isn't about funeral plots or coffins. But I did have a birthday the other day and I'm officially old as a motherfucker now, so I'm trying to buy shit that will last the duration. Quality shit that will last longer than me. I started on this idea a while ago, so not all of this stuff is new.

I've had the same pair of sorels since I was like 13 and I'm 38 now. I used to do my paper route in them, and I still wore them to work every day it snowed hard this winter. They're still holding up.

I've had the Filson duffle for about 20 years and expect it to last at least another 20 and with their repair program, I think it'll be a hand me down to my oldest son, who is 5.

I have a pair of hestras that were well-used when I skimmed 'em off the top of a lost and found bin in 1997. Still good to go.

@abraham: Well you can resole them, that's within the rules. Keeping shit maintained is part of the deal.

I still use the bauer hockey bag I was given by my uncle when I started hockey at age 10. It's my laundry bag now, but it's seen a lot of hard duty.

I have two pairs of Hestras, one glove, one mitten. Can't imagine I'll need to replace them.

We need a pic of those OG boots. I grew up with a pair, made it through college and a few years at Alta, but they got lost along the way.

I put on a Canondale long sleeve jersey the other day and realized I pulled it of the PDog lost and found in 1998. Still a great jersey.

Overall, I think it's getting much harder to find shit that lasts.

Boat shoes above Sperry. Rancourts are made down east. Have three pair. They da shizzle.

Oh! We're not so much talking about things that are a good investment re: durability but things we've had and still use and expect to use for years to come. Okay.. I've got (and use) my grandmother's Lodge cast iron dutch oven she rec'd as a wedding gift in 1929 and a beautiful slipper chair from the 1930s (again, Grandma's) that I've had upholstered . It is still going strong and is still a very comfortable chair!
