I Am Such A Nerd: SOCOM II

Oh man. Last night we hooked up the PSII to the internet and played SOCOM II with 22,000 other nerds/stoners all over the world. You can talk via the headset, and create "clans" which are more like gangs. I was alarmed at how many blatant stoners are on this thing. People taking chongers into their mics and coughing for everyone. Pretty funny, really.

Last night I was inducted into a clan by a guy calling himself ArchAngelUSA03 who was from Watts or some shit. It was a pretty funny conversation, whitebread from Idaho in a gang with brotha from Watts. Needless to say, we wrecked shop like Crocket and Tubbs.

If any of you are nerds, too (I'm looking at phUnk), find me online. My handle is "Capt. Beanbag".

Now back to skiing.

I have an older cousin whose claims to fame are:

1) Owning every single video game console ever made -- and they all work. I think I even saw Coleco Vision in his old apt.

2) He's beat every single game he owns, and he owns a shitload.

He also works for a game production company in Seattle, so video games are literally his life. Nerd? You bet!

Yes, but does he also have the four button hand-grip action controller. I have two, and there's nothing finer in this world than using these to toss grenades in Frontline or beat up Clubber in Rocky III. Best controllers evar!

That said, Socom was an awesome game. That is until all the little kiddies started using gamesharks to cheat. They've fixed it for the time being in Socom II, so enjoy it while it lasts. Because playing someone who has unlimited ammo and is using auto-aiming is not fun. Minus the cheating, it's the best damn game out there. Period. And yes, talking to all the stoners is classic. One of my alchamaholic friends plays all the time and he goes by lushlife.

Did anyone else ever have a TI-99 computer? Pretty fun game machine for the time. It's graphics were pretty similar to Colecovision. I remember spending many hours playing Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and Parsec.

i played that game religiously for over a year. only thing that is stopping me now is that i can't find the game anywhere to download.

I love the new one Max Payne II and GTA-Vice City.
Used to be addicted to Team Fortress from Half Life.
Might have to check out SOCOM. What is it, team war scenario like CounterStrike?

Never heard of chess on TV, that's gotta be entertaining. Then again, I watched the World Poker Tournament while flying Jet Blue.

No, but around 1980 I built a Heath-Zenith H-89 computer from a kit. It used the Zylog-80 processor.

I used to play half-life and quake 3 over the LAN and internet back in SLC. All the IT guys would recruit whoever they could and then come install the software. We were kind-of our own clan and would all just show up in a room and destroy everyone. I have to say online half-lfe kicks serious ass. The maps ruled. I loved sitting back and sniping people like crazy or taking them out with the lazer guided rocket launcher. Even better was waiting for them behind a corner and taking them out with a crowbar. Great for shit-talking as well.

I gave up on it b/c their QA blows goats, but the Urban Terror mod for Quake 3 kicks ass.

They tend to break shit every new release, but the gameplay and visuals rock.

When I was playing, I played as, you're not going to believe this, "phUnk".

I also rocked the hizzouse in Q2. Got 1 poor co-worker bastard so hooked that he almost got fired b/c we'd play net games during lunch. 4pm would roll around and he'd still be playing. :eek:

Another classic old computer was the Timex-Sinclair, originally just the Sinclair, I think. That started out as a kit, too. I remember it had 1K of RAM.

Oh yeah nerd here. Rocking quake 3 and half life blue shift on my comp.

Diablo II was my love though running around killing all sorts of shit hmm. I still miss my level 34 barbarian. Never should have deleted that game.

I wish I could hook up a PS2 so I could talk shit that would be the best.

I would just fear that I would lose all contact with people.
