I see moose EVERY day on my commute through Logan Canyon. And all the time behind my house while skiing. I am always on the lookout for these creatures, they will tear my Corolla to shit.

no man, if anything gets between a mother moose and her babies shell go nuts. when i was living in alaska, moose and bears venturing into housing communities werent uncommon and once a woman videotaped an incident that happened outside her house where a mother moose was slightly seperated from her babies and a bear happened to croos thier path and the moose went savage and killed it. they showed the tape on local news.Quote:

A very nice guy that I used to work with was killed last spring when he hit a moose in his Audi S4 Avant. His car looked like it had been attacked by a giant can opener. Definitely not purty.

The main problem with cars and moose is height. A car hits a deer and the deer gets hit by the front end, most of the impact is taken by the vehicle. A car hits a moose and the car takes the moose's legs out from under it and the moose falls into the drivers lap. kind of like those pics.
I've had three near misses in the last year, two of them on the same evening.
Driving back from the soxs/yanks game on my way to a bela fleck concert I had to drive between two moose that were standing on either side of the double yellow. Couldnt stop in time, so I figured I'd just start screaming and keep driving, and hope for the best. Luckily they didnt move.
Last week driving back from burlington I came to the top of a hill on RT2 to see a giant buck running down the middle of the road. Didnt catch his eyes from my lights because he was running away from me.
Then about ten minutes later, I swerve to avoid a moose, only to have to swerve back to avoid another two moose on the other side of the road. Drove another ten minutes or so then pulled over and spent the night in the car. It's like a fucking zoo out there.
Oh yeah, almost hit a bear on Vancouver island this summer, driving to Port Renfew. Fun times.
Large animals just cant resist the wagon I guess.
