Maggot Big Mountain camp statistics

Here are some totals for the camps so far.

So far there are 15 people who have tentatively committed to attending the January 7,8,9 Maggot camp. There are about 5 more that want to come but need to check on some things first. If they attend that would make 20 and the limit is 24 so that is great.

There are 8 people that are interested in the December 10,11,12 camp. Hopefully we can get a few more and we'll make this camp happen as well.

People that have contacted me and intend on attending include:

Skiergirl, Bagtagley, Stormrider, Crashnburn'd, Grizz, Truth, Followme, Shadow, SLCfreshies, RTP, Helicrackjunky, Shmerham, Elevens, Snorkeldeep, Miniracer, Slim. There are 7 more who did not provide their boardnames. Total=23.

I'm going to E-mail everyone tomorrow about how to register officially and put down the deposit.

If there is interest, I would like to offer a Maggot's only camp.

It would differ from the regular Straightline Adventures camp (http://www.straightlineadventures.com)in that I would like to try to make it less expensive than the other camps, and try to include a super heavy emphasis on pro freeriders that would join us as guest coaches(see website for a partial list of the pros) .

Also, maybe an even bigger emphasis on backcountry and avalanche safety and bagging the gnarlier lines in the B.C. around Alta/Snowbird, along with still a lot of lift served.

Other than that, it would have a similar itinerary to the normal camp with teaching of steeps techniques, Rossignol demos(2006 B2, B3, B4, and a few B5 Bandits), video analysis, guest speakers and slide shows for the apre ski.

I'd be open to suggestions to cater it to the Maggot's combined interests. Dates are open to suggestion as well.

I'm thinking $375 per person is as low as I can go for the 3 day camp.

The limit would be 24 attendees.

The inclusive price is on the Website, minus $150 maggot discount=$1075

Lodging is at The Goldminer's Daughter, which is right at the base of the new quad lift. Inclusive includes: The camp, three nights lodging, breakfast and dinners, lift tickets, and airport transfers.

All apre activities will be at The Goldminers Daughter as well.

You can do it for less if you have a car and are willing to drive by staying at any of a number of hotels within 25-30 minutes of Alta.

Homewood Suites is nice, kind of like a condo. It's about as close as you can get to the canyons. Price is $149/night on Jan 6,7,8 for two double beds. Price is $109/night on December 9,10,11.

Exended Stay America has some really good prices from SLC too... Anyone interested in splitting a room 3 or 4 ways, let me know.

edit - just looked, it would be $71.24 for the one in Sandy, $17.81 split 4 ways.

im going to be calling a bunch of friends as well to try and sell this for gordy.. but if you all are on the fence (or can do dec or jan) you should step up for dec 10,11,12 .. we only need two more to make it happen and the more the merrier. with an early season like ut has had, its going to be a good time!

I am one of the 8 definitely in for December 10,11,12 and recruited one extra non-maggot to help the cause. Come on you fence sitters . . . throw down.

You know about me... But, anyone else looking for Sandy lodging for the Jan camp, PM me. Looking like probably Extended Stay in Midvale is where I'll be.

4 people (2 beds, 2 get the floor) - $17 per night
3 people (2 beds, 1 on floor) - $21 per night

Or we can do something else, but you get a mini kitchen here.

Just pay the deposit and list the date of your camp and that you want the inclusive package where it allows you to enter more information on the deposit page.

Well, thanks to Shin, I'm in for the Dec camp. But just the last couple of days we have added Lynx, Bob Mc and Flykdog also. The Dec camp is just crawling with Maggots. ;)

I can't sleep at night, when I do I dream of skiing. I feel like AKPM getting ready to go to Whistler. I have no idea what to bring, do I bring camera, do I not bring camera? Will I need a pair of depends? Will I die? I'd just like to state right off the bat, my kids are going to be pissed if I die. Do I bring my shovel and probe, therefore pointing out my extreme gaperness by not having a beacon or knowledge? Will I be able to refrain from demanding Red Baron personally drive himself up into the LCC Thursday night to get me real time updates? Will my co-workers be able to refrain from killing me or at least sticking a sock in my mouth between now and Thursday? Will I be able to smoke the rest of this pack of cigarettes by Monday morning?

Only time will tell the answers to these questions...

I feel the same way as Bob. Nervous, excited, making lists of stuff to bring. I'm going to do beacon searches tomorrow, so I'll at least know how to turn it on.

I think all of us, are wondering what chutes they are going to make us straight line!! :eek: :wink:

Nice..so that makes about 10 of us. Looks like snow is moving in too. Is everyone staying at GMD? I am coming in early Thursday and hope to ski a half day...anybody else going to be there on Thursday afternoon.

I'm coming in Fri. AM and will be staying in Sandy.

Awesome to see more of you guy step up and come to the dec camp.
At one time we got down to 6 people and Gordy told me he didn't want to disappoint those that wanted to come so he was going to hold the camp even though he needed 15 people.

I believe we are up to 10 people, this is great.

I am having problems working, I keep thinking about Alta....
