almost makes me want to ski ...almost
A PAEVED PARKING LOT!!! That's it! Alta has lost its soul!
;)
LCC and what waits across the street from alta. the alta shots are too large and i am too lazy.
Xover, thanks for the shots, they're sweet! I don't think that couple of inches of asphalt is going to stand up to the plowing ,moisture & temperature changes very well!
I'm going to be cornfused the first time I go to Alta next year.
I was under the impression that "cornfused" was your Status Quo... ;)Quote:

Unfortunately I think that's the point...but I gotta agree with Xover on the new strategies. I spoke with someone at Alta who said that it's unknown what strategy patrol will use for the opening (ie - wildcat first or collins first) or how this lift may change avie routes (priorities). Anyone have an idea on this or inside beta?Quote:

in true alta non-chalant style the load test for the new collins will be nov. 17th. if it doesn't work, looks like we'll be skiing wildcat and supreme.Quote:

Been a wierd offseason for me, knowing that I'm leaving the relative solitude of the Northern Wasatch to ski with the masses in LCC (pipe down Woodsy). Looking forward to regular days, sans Metamucil, exploring my new "home". Definately have regrets that I missed being part of the regular Basin crowd, would have like to have had flyk, GT, and Meats as regulars pushing me farther and being camera fodder for GT's two-plank blooper show. But, someone had to be the dot on the PowMow map. Definately be back up behind that beautifull destination resort known as Ogden for turns many times this winter.
Can't wait to make new contacts, strengthen friendships started during my jaunts down here the last two years, and most importantly, share moments of deep-pow and unparalelled emjoyment that comes with winter and pushing gravity with fellow mags.
OK, watching Frizzo puke in some houseguests shoes after getting schooled at beer-pong has its merits also.
Just have to make sure I don't park next to Mr. AG's Dodge this winter as it makes mine look like a skinny tired gurley-man truck.
i wish they were mine, but they're not. they are from the old alta site. probably lee's pics. i have a few of my own that are similar, but could not find them.Quote:

I've been starting to hear rumors.... Alta employees whispering of the new lift not being ready until January... Anybody have some more encouraging updates? I wouldn't mind it actually. You could get Ballroom pow laps all day by hiking from Wildcat. You could grab continuous Backside to Sugarloaf laps, and when that got hit, you could do a bunch of awkward Nest/High T laps no one else would bother with. and the traverse from Sugarloaf would weed out the riff raff. Damn, they really should have named that quad "The Big Mistake", the more I think about it.
i'll check this weekend, but i'm guessing by their progress so far that they aren't expecting it to snow at all this fall.

Well, look on the brightside. If Alta were Kirkwood they would have torn down chair 10, claimed for months that the new chair was delayed since the shipment was lost but might be somewhere in Missouri, mysteriously found them and finished by April 15th, and then not opened the chair anyway until 1 pm on a nipple deep pow day because they're too cheap to hire enough patrollers.
A Germ-less Alta would make for interesting pow day races. Line build up at sunnyside, frantic tuck/skate to sugarloaf, followed by skate race across EBT to High T and goods. Some pretty good endurance required, gapers would have a big disadvantage. Anything off High T or Backside would defenitely last a little bit longer. If Collins really didn't open by christmas it would be terrible PR for Alta.
