I also came to this thread under the assumption that OP was making fun of another skier/rider. After reading a few posts what I see is that we're actually making fun of ourselves because each and every one of us is guilty of behavior or using gear someone else would consider gaperish. The dude going full on tech support in the OP just doesn't give a fuck what we think and is spending his money and enjoying his day his way without any impact on others at all. To me, that's taking too long to boot up and hit the lift, but he's not delaying the start of my day at all so who cares. Rock on with your gear overload.
