Heading to Red Lodge this weekend for a little stay-cation. Just me and the dog. Rented a cabin near town. It's my FIRST TIME other than driving through in the summer. ISO rec's for skiing the mountain, food and beers, and I'll probably bring my touring gear just in case.
Quad chair over on Cole Creek has the best steeper terrain. Lots of fun steepish gullies under the chair and in that area. Terrain in Headwaters can be fun if there's new snow, just keep traversing. Buckin Chute and West Side mine are fun lines (see map). I like Red Lodge, the quad has no lift lines and you can ski your brains out.
Fun long groomers for warm up off of Grizzly.
I like the Beartooth Pale Ale at Red Lodge Ales. They have food too. Snow Creek Saloon downtown is a popular spot. You can't miss it.

Lazy M is a classic bomber cruiser. Depending on snow cover Drainage. Head over to Cole Creek. Can't beat the Snowcreek at night. One of my fav bars of all time anywhere. Carbon County Steakhouse can be extremely good or extremely miss - been all over the board with food experiences there. </p>

^^^ You may get a laugh out of this. The control team that released Bonecusher was the SS Dir. (# 58) and his Assistant..... CBz actually deployed the shot but wasnt able to see the runout or the slide hit the chair barn. Cold as hell down south today.

I'll strongly second the Cole Creek recommendation. There's some pretty good, down the fall line terrain off Grizzly Peak as well, but Cole gets you much more vertical per run and a faster turnaround, with a lot of terrain to explore (don't miss Headwaters).Quote:

Foster and Logan's was my personal preference for a bison burger and draft cider; Natali's Front Bar is the grown up room for Red Lodge Pizza Co (shared kitchen and menu, solid pizza and a decent range of other options) and a pretty good spot to hang out and chat. Snow Creek can get rowdy and may or may not be compatible with early morning plans. The Blue is a classic dive and, last I was there, was cash only (but they have an ATM on site).
Been dealing with unrelenting nerve pain in my neck and shoulder for two weeks now. Absolutely maddening. Ortho/physical therapy hasn’t done shit. Went back to the ortho yesterday and they prescribed medication which I started this morning. We’ll see.Going to give it a go today though as I’m totally fomo’d.
Bummer Swimmy. Those weird pains that seem to be from nothing but getting old are the worst! Hope you are up and running better soon.

Yeah, my sciatica lit me up a couple of weeks ago and knocked me off my skis until yesterday. Never happened before. Getting old sucks balls.

Swimmy: Bummer on the nerve stuff! Have you tried acupuncture? Also, Kandice at Monarch Massage is REALLY fucking good. She has helped me with some nagging SI joint issues this fall. Can't recommend her enough.
Finally getting back to back to Bozeman today. Looks like it's been fucking DEEP.

Considering a little one night/one day trip up to Big Sky in early March, last time I was there maybe 2 years ago overnight camping was fine and I wasn't the only one (levinsky lot i think?) but I see on the website that overnight parking/camping is technically not allowed. Can anyone shed light on the current ability for a one night stay in a lot? Thanks.
