Pretty sure I just saw a certain local/Olympic hero on that resort's Vimeo page making that face look like what he does to spines in AK.

Anyone got any discounts or vouchers for Kirkwood for me?
Krystal Kartwright and want to take Owen to the Banked Slalom on Sunday
also
Anyone know what the plans are for Mt Rose?
I have a voucher I have not used yet.
If ypou can find some one who has:
1) Bought a pass for next year, and
2) Will be there on Saturday, and
3) Has not already used their one free ticket valid between 4/1-13, and
4) They don't despise you, then
You could get a free ticket. I'd give you mine, but I'll be driving I-5 that day.
Alpine posted closing details in comments on their Facebook page. Open daily until the 20th, with weekends to follow. Squaw open daily until the 27th.
Yummy day last Saturday skiing some of my favorite lines...in WINTER CONDITIONS!!!

OK amateur question.
I really know nothing about corn snow, I may well have skied it and thought, wow that is nice for spring, but who knows.
Can anyone give me some tips for best strategies around say Alpine?
Is it even any good for corn right now? Is it getting cold enough overnight? Is that even a thing?
Sorry if this is like asking for someones secret powder stash.
the corn will be majestic this entire week.
my season ended in february and this will be the hardest week for me to miss of the season...
this is the skiing i live for!
i can't help you with alpine, but i could quarterback an entire day at squaw!
Alpine Meadows in the spring: a lot depends on how cold it was the night before, but in general I just follow the sun. I bet it's going to be fun out there this week and no crowds at all.
Corn snow requires overnight freeze--look up the temps on the remote data link on the NWS web site. (Close to freezing may be good enough--the deep snow temp and radiation into a clear night sky can freeze the surface even if the overnight temp isn't quite freezing. At Alpine start on south facing runs like South Face (duh) of Sherwood, east facing stuff like Beaver may take a little longer. West facing in the afternoon. North facing stuff may or may not soften, depending on how steep, how shaded, how cold. High winds and clouds (obviously) may prevent softening. When things start getting slushy the steepest runs, like Keyhole, can still be fun, although you pay for it on the runout. At Alpine Patrol will often close stuff when it gets too soft, to keep the snow from getting too rutted. An inch or two of corn is all you need on a very smooth run, while a torn up run may never have good corn skiing. The beauty of corn skiing, when it's good, is that no one leaves tracks, so unlike powder you don't have to fight to get there first.
i just sent you a PM with some squaw beta...
here's the abridged version:
avoid the upper mountain at squaw.
the lower you ski (read: KT), the better the snow will be.
the west face and chute 75 should be going off all afternoon starting around noon (maybe earlier today).
enjoy! i wish i could be out there today!
Guys what can I say, thanks for sharing.
Anyone have the number to Vertical Sports?
For some reason the phone number on their website and via Google has been disconnected.
Or, another way to help, is if anyone has a loaner AT setup for someone with a 24.5 boot size!
Sierra-At-Tahoe closing date April 20.
That place is fun. Spent 3 days there this season at a training session. I'd love to go back with better conditions.
I heard 4/27 close for Squaw. I think weekends only.
Dude! Get with it! That is so like 2 pages ago!
Anyway you are slightly off. Because SaT always has a Cheap Ticket Monday Fundraiser at the end of the season (I'm betting).
..and SkiCougar! I mean, did you even read Mr Smith's post from yesterday?
It's on this page, ferchrissake, about a dozen b4 your post. Go get your reading glasses while I stick it up for you (Ooh!)
Sheesh!Quote:

Well it looks like Vertical has converted back to Wattabike for the summer, and they've boxed up all their ski stuff. I'm gonna hit Sierra Ski and Cycle for an AT rental then, but I'll gladly find a way to trade favors to anyone who has a women's AT setup with a 24.5ish boot size that I could borrow for a day!
Be nice to her schralph. Don't scare her away.
ashley has some starlets and a tutu you can borrow. are your boots dynafit compatible? or some 4fronts.Quote:
