Wait why are we tryna grow the sport again?
Yeah, Crested Butte has a separate route that goes up to 10 Peaks, where ideally someone would buy a beer or something. They do full moon dinner tours and things like that, too. For all the shit I give them sometimes, they're actually doing some cool things.
It's never been that appealing to me, but I can see myself doing it a few times in the next couple of weeks just to get some exercise given the lack of snow in the bc.
Thanks for adding some insight to the reasons for ski touring at the ski area. I guess its not for be because it sounds like going to the gym except for outside. I think I'm gonna put my boots on and set up the nordic track in the backyard. Honestly, I think my confusion stems from the fact that I could do the exact same this except I'd be in the woods, away from people, snowcats, etc.
Back to real skiing...I got the scoop on some Wanker Park Terrain openings for those who care.
Open from the top starting tomorrow. Probably just Cranmer. Might be to the Extra Slow but probably still just the Zepher.
Lunch Rock Saturday. What that means is anybody's guest. Sounds like you'll most likely get to just ride and ski the Hi Lo. It'll be good poling practice. Interesting that this is how you get to Lunch Rock with out going to the Jane Base or skiing Sober Englishman.

I used to shit of skinning the resort but now I do every once in a while. not a bad way to spend some time before work seeing the sunrise. especially when we haven't seen snow in a while and I am going solo. might even do it tomorrow (gonna be very cold though so maybe i'll just stay in bed)
anyone been up berthoud area or know how much of that snow that area received?
I was up there before this last snow. Not much skiable back to a trailhead unless you've got rock skis. Some lines filling in up higher. N. facing aspects much better than most others. Snotel says the recent storm picked up about 5", WP claimed a few more than that, but Snotel's usually undermeasure fresh snow because it's so light.
Boulder Backcountry Ski & Snowboard group on FB is probably the best source of regular updates I've seen.
Was up there yesterday and it was pretty good, getting in and out was a bit tricky. Wind loaded aspects were good and about 6-8 deep. Although didn't ski them the roll look good and Vortex was looking inviting except for the huge terrain trap at the bottom...
Gratz is saying pattern change Dec 20. Today's the 6th so.... two weeks.
Joel Gratz worked an a body shop in a past life.
