My kid got Comma and Blackjack chutes this morning. He’s pretty pumped about it.

Great day at soli out honeycomb - sun held off long enough for it to remain cold smoke. Loving this deep stable snowpack - you'll have to imagine the photos from me as well..

I was thinking of heading up to Basin tomorrow morning but the lack of refreeze has me thinking maybe somewhere West facing might hold up a little later into the day. Thoughts?
Basin has been pretty grabby in the afternoon lately, but I have it on good account that mornings ski reasonably well. I'll be up tomorrow if you decide to come ski.Quote:

Thanks ZZZ and TFW for validating my experience with corn in the Wasatch over the last few decades - it's ephemeral to say the least.
The last great corn cycle I recall was the first Covid winter - when Snowbird finally opened for uphill traffic in May there were a handful of stellar days out there. One morning in Mineral that spring I had one of the best runs I've ever had back there, perfect corn on a smooth supportive base with no moguls, tracks, or variable snow at all, just god's grooming everywhere. The skin out in the sun was not my favorite but totally worth the price of admission.Quote:

I think it was spring 2018... the final closing weekend was three days of great corn. It had rained most of the the week leading up so alta was super smooth.
I remember a specific day in spring 2018 or 2019 that the Bird had a corn window that lasted almost the whole day. Me and another regular I recognized from the tram chased the sun from Mineral first thing all the way around the mountain. It was the kind of day you just remember.
I've also had a metric fuck ton of dawn patrols where the snow never corned up before we had to drop to get down to the valley and we rattled our teeth out the whole way down.
I rode good corn in 2019, power outage. Also inbounds past knucklehead traverse.
Since then the only real corn ive had was in tahoe last april.
