Light snow in Chamonix so far not much but the trees are starting to look pretty again.
i found a nice snowdance video but photobucket is not working and youtube wont let me register. the world hates me today.
oh and light snow at stubai but nothing below 1800 or so.

Alright here is my assessment after skiing the weekend,
and again today after some (some = little, but more than none) snow.
Above 2000m isn't bad. Actually, it can be quite fun.
Below 2000m should be avoided for the moment until some snow falls.
Snowing today a bit. Think Snow!
ya really good outlooks for here in western CH over the next few days, at least from MeteoLeysin...and they usually tell it how it is.

Spent today in l'Alpe d'Huez. Skied the Vaujany, Oz, Villard Reculas and Auris sectors. Nothing above 2500m was open due to the conditions. There was about 5cm of fresh snow yesterday and 15-20cm today. Off piste skiing is pretty much on rocks below 2000m.

It is rather "fun" to be skiing down a run and suddenly run out of base and be bumping over frozen tundra and great big stones.

The base is a bit lower on any shaded slopes but very rutted where it has been skied. All the classic Vaujany o/p was unrecognisable compared to last May! Perrins was rock and ice. Fare/263 couloirs cliffs and ice. Maybe some of the stuff off the back of the Pic Blanc would be skiable but the locals said that there were rocks lower down. So o/p is really out of the question at the mo until the current fall forms a base and we get some more snow on top. I was surprised how bad it was.
On piste was a hard, icy base with fresh snow - powder in the morning, cut up by the early afternoon. The resort slopes were very busy as were the usual pinch points down to Oz and Vaujany. There were no stones or rocks but a lot of the intermediate skiers were finding the conditions very challenging.
Personally I enjoyed it but the new snow on Sat/Sun is much needed.
Heard from a mate in Nendaz yesterday evening that the pistes are ok, off-piste though not nearly enough coverage, just rocks everywhere. The winter does just not seem to be happening this year. Have had 12 days on skis so far, not sure how many more I will bother to have given the conditions.
only 10cms new reported in leysin today. 5-10cm at G3000. glad i didn't burn a vacation day.
but on the bright side we're looking at some 10-15cms saturday, and 20cms or more EACH DAY Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, according to meteoleysin.

Absolutely dumping here. Well, maybe not. But it is snowing hard, and some of the biggest flakes I've ever seen. We had about 5cm overnight. Of course, this doesn't mean much for riding, except this is snow and it is in Europe. It is also probably the only place I'll see the stuff for the rest of the season.
What are snow-levels looking like on Monday. Martin Bleu in lausanne gave an 11*C, which to me would mean rain below 2400-2600m?
I think I will work this weekend and take some time off in the week givne the forecats and I that I am recovering form the flu.
Can anyone pull the 6 day map off snowforecast.com and put it up here?
