I’m a mechanical engineer, and my specific work takes me to many different types of factories.

This does beg the question of whether the tin foil hat industry has their shit backed up.
I always did shiny side toward the food. It looks cleaner.
And if I’m heating something up, why would I want to reflect the heat away?

Stupid question, stick with me. How much weight do you think base grinding takes off a ski? Bought some 191 Renegades that are new to me but drilled once previously, and they're 2068g vs. 2246g. The difference in weight is bugging me more than it should, and I wonder if base grinding one ski would make that difference a bit smaller.
Recent developments have me questioning everything I thought I knew….
Bontex shims:
Under footbed, inside the liner?
Or under liner, inside the shell?
Oof, thanks for the rough estimate. I'll live with it then.
Mostly the latter. But given that some of us nerd out over a 2000g ski vs a 2200g ski, I think that's fair. Completely forgetting about it is, of course, the right play though.
Well you could always epoxy a couple of washers to the lighter one if it's just the difference that's bothering you
For starters, this has got to be the wrong thread for questions about grinding skis and fitting boots.
That said, I vote for weighing the skis again and seeing how consistent your measurements are.
If your measurements are accurate, the only possible option is to go ahead and base grind one plank and report back. Otherwise this will follow you to your grave.

Add 22g of lead tape to the top sheet or add 22g of lead tape to the top of the ski boot or add 22g of lead tape to front of your binding to get back the the factory spec weight. Be sure to balance both skis to within .05g +/- so you won't oversteer one way and understeer the other.
I'm thinking helium balloons tied to the heavier ski might be a better choice. 12.7 balloons should provide just enough offset.
Is the difference evenly distributed?
I wish I knew
oh no
Drill some big holes in the heavier ski.
Yea, fuck those skis. If the measurement is accurate, that’s some shitty QC right there. Almost half a pound? Fuck that.

Bindings are off. Repeated measurements, with pictures, below. And the chat transcript from the extent of my questions to 4FRNT yesterday.
Again, they were produced in 2019, so nothing will come of this, I'm just being anal.
