Any other TD dot-watchers?
I'm happy that Mike Hall's TD record still stands. Heck of a ride by Ulrich though, he was just a few hours shy of breaking it almost through his entire ride.
I'm bummed for Lael's setback but at least it's her own record she was trying to break. It doesn't look like she's going to be able to break it though. Katya is a mere 40 miles behind her and riding strong. If anything, this is Lael's race to lose these next few days.
The winds are doing no one any favors right now.
Without that mud pit I think Ulrich would've set the new record. Next year.
Campfire Cycling seems to have solid deals through July 4th: https://www.campfirecycling.com/the-hugamundo-sale
Update on my search for a gravel bike: bought a Panorama on 5/31 with a 10% discount code and free shipping. It didn't ship until 6/21 (they apparently have been slammed with lots of orders). Then UPS tells me I have to pay tax ($450 ), which I (ignorantly I guess) didn't expect. Hopefully, it gets here next week without issue. By this point it would have been easier to just buy a Cutthroat from Campfire...oh well. Excited to ride!
I'd rather be riding it but for now I'm living vicariously through others. JPaks founders' wife is riding it and doing pretty good. I didn't know what rhabdo was until Ted King scratched. That's some serious shit and could easily be mistaken for giardia or a food borne malady. I definitely took note of that.
Alex Howe's commentary/saga has been fantastic to follow via @mythicalstateof, for those on IG.

My buddy and I had planned for a century, but he had a mechanical issue that took some time to fix and then we we needed to make it back in time for a doggie birthday party.

Solid day all around.
Big one yesterday. I did it a couple years ago and a friend has been wanted to do the same loop so I went with. Missoula over to rock creek, to skalkaho pass, down to hamilton, and back home. Nice cool day with roving rain clouds but we stayed dry. Last time it was hot and windy and the last 50mi home was miserable.

New bike day! Been 5+ years since I've had curly bars and that bike was on 19c tires. Love the comfy ride of this thing.

Is this a place to ask about CX bikes? I had a few beers last night and committed myself to racing 'cross this fall and am going to need a bike. It's been over a decade since I raced and was on a SS with cantis back then. There's not a lot of CX-specific bikes I can see anymore and even so there's pretty heavy overlap between the "CX" bikes and "gravel" bikes from what I can see. Giant TCX and Cannondale SuperX look like a good price/build, what else should I be looking at? Is Lauf any good? Specialized Crux would be an easy call if they were to run a sale like they're doing on their MTBs.
I think the majority of gravel bikes will do fine on a CX course.
If you want to be nit-picky about it, the more "aero" bikes might be a bit harsh / stiff.
A SuperX would do great. The last time I rode a TCX it had a fork that flexed a lot under braking, especially in chattery sections. YMMV.
CX as a sport has definitely taken a back seat to gravel.
I wonder why? [emoji6]
