i suck and i've never once been too slow for pace of play because i was looking around for yardage and i've never played with anybody who had that problem. beyond that, i have hardly ever played with anybody with a range finder.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrr, think you might of missed the humor here...that using a rangefinder is as blasphemous as a molded driver head or non-hickory shafts...;)
i'm in the middle of a much more first world problem...should i trade out my Vokey SM non-conforming 54/14 for a NIP SM4 56/11 for $80. Would be between the 50* narrow Titty gap wedge and the SM 60*...hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Much more of a club ho than ski ho.
Shot 41 today in a snowstorm. I'll take it, as I couldn't feel my hands after the 6th.
Solid effort in snow I'd say. I've played 3 nines in a mens club I just joined and still have no score to turn in. Interesting little course with a cast of real characters from the pro on down. I'm the youngest person with two hands in a fun foresome. Gonna be an interesting season.
Today the pro told me that even though last weeks "game" included teeing off with a toddlers 5 wood on a par 3 and putter on the 9th, I could turn in a score using par for those holes. I know the rules have been changed to make this game so easy a 14 y o can play with the pros but really?
WATFO.
Without revisiting the Great Rangefinder Debate of May 2012, and rehashing the points in favor of rangefinder use- for me, knowing the distance exactly lets me choose a club and swing with the greatest confidence and commitment. And the distance to the center of the green is not always the number you want to know. The GPS app on my phone works okay, but it's slow to acquire the satellite on cloudy days and kills the phone battery, too. Bottom line: I played a couple rounds using the rangefinder, and I played better. So I want one.
BTW, after the above input, some other research, and a trip to Golfsmith to play with the various offerings, I went with the Callaway/Nikon X-Hot.
Sm4 56/11 is the tvd copy M grind. That wedge is sick. The TVD's used to be 250, then vokey decided to mass produce his favorite and most popular grinds. The M grind stands for "M"ost favorite.
If you can back off that 50* to meet the gap, you can certainly hood the 56 to hit it farther.;o)
I walk off every shot. Up and down the fairway yelling HEY DO YOU SEE A MARKER??
I especially like to yell over to the players on the adjacent fairway a hole ahead if they remember where the markers are.
Thanks, was curious what the 'M' stood for. And i have read the the newer conforming grooves are actually better for mid-handicap hacks like me. Ya that 50* is my money club, i can def choke down and inch and cover that gap.
Unfortunately it sold really fast. Not surprising at $80 shipped. dammit.
82 at Diablo Grande Legends today. +5 last four holes was disappointing... Course is dry already and most of the water streams have been drained. The Ranch is a better choice at this point. Picture in a little while.

Just used this for the first time. Simple, inexpensive, accurate, brilliant.....
Second-longest hole in the Bay Area (I'm guessing)!
If you can call Patterson the Bay Area. That hole on Lake Chabot course is ridiculous. The par 5 on the ranch requires three long and well placed shots. Great hole.
Played here on Monday:

Beautiful course and the clubhouse was pretty impressive too (that's it in the background). Played consistently which was nice but went to a local course today and was awful, only shot 4 more though.
Bumpity bump cuz the Masters is over. So I'm looking to ditch my old man Irons ( Caloway fusion wide soles) and get something with some feedback and real performance. I'm likng the 2013 Caloway X forged irons. I get that my game will suffer but looking foward to the challenge. I will be able to put in 80+ days in this year. Any input folks?
+1 on the shafts, -1 on the blades. ;) Forged cavity backs are awesome tho, pure one shot with those and you'll never look at a cast iron again. Don't know the Callaways, am personally playing some older Tourstage V7000's, small Japanese company bought up by Bridgestone. I think a lot of it is just what fits your eye, in terms of topline and offset...
Ok, just hit em for an hour and loved em . The stiff felt better than the reg. Project x shafts were cool. Tapered... They looked like a graphite shaft at first. They are not muscle back blade but more a forged slight cavity back. Sweet sweet sweet.
front rangers..... fill out survey below and get a great deal on a round of golf.

The wife and I are heading to Palm Springs next week...looking to do 4 rounds. We are definitely hitting Desert Willow (Mtn View) and SilverRock...any other must hits?
La Quinta was really fun, but not worth the dough I thought. Palmer Private at PGA West, definitely. All of the PGA West courses are fun, though. Stadium course is fun. I always seem to end up at the Marriott course, Desert Springs I think it's called? They have a hummingbird as their logo. Yup, it is JW Marriott Desert Springs course. Indian Wells if you can get on the proper course.
been hitting a ton of balls in the yard. mostly working on short pitches and chips but also working on my swing with the other clubs. i feel like i've really started to figure something out mechanically. i think part of my problem before is that i was trying hard to do something in particular without having any context. hitting thousands of balls in the yard without always taking a full swing or just making contact in various ways to get a real physical sense of what i'm doing has helped a lot. i've slowed down and relaxed and feel like i'm actually starting to get a repeatable rhythm and technique and softer hands. doing a lot of short game work has helped that as well. i'm also progressing on pitching. unfortunately, so far, as always, chipping just feels awkward and i'm not able to make the same kind of sweet contact yet that i have in other swings.
i watched ben hogan doing his slow motion practice and that has been interesting to incorporate as well.
