I’m not missing this tour. Kicked myself for not seeing the last one however many years ago (13?) . All I heard was how good it was

I hope they play somewhere narth , Vancouver or Calgary will do/fingers crossed. Rave reviews from the few that have heard it
Hmm. For some reason i couldnt care less about a new tool album. Huge fan, seen em twice back in the day, undertow and lateralus tours, but now the wait seems like I've just moved on. I find it hard to get stoked for a stadium tour too. Yeah, I'm getting old. /getoffmylawn

Same here, and I never really considered them metal, more of like progressive rock/ sleepy time music. I like Tool, just not enough to really get jazzed up about a new album anymore.
I did go to JMK's winery, Caduceus, a few months ago. Pretty cool spot in Jerome, AZ. Nice tasting room with great views of the desert. They sell some Tool/ Puscifer memorabilia there too.
Opiate and Undertow are very different than the later Albums.
After Undertow they took on a more heavy Pink Floydish long build up intro into some amazing riffs and lyrics, just sometimes feel like I have to wait too long for it to “kick in”. But when it does kick in it kicks ass.

Late 2014? It was a joke then
I'm gonna gonna give a shout out for some Swiss bands' new releases...

Has Killing Joke been mentioned? Just had them thrown at me on Spotify. Pretty cool.
Oranssi Pazuzu + Dark Buddha Rising =
Define it.
There's all kinds of metal, from what I can tell.
industrial post-punk is what i would label them. no self respecting metal band would ever put out crap like this:
having said that, they do have their moments:
Hooboy, metal purism, there's no winning here. One of us will be Beavis, the other Butthead.
Punk is metal.
I was talking more of this, which Spotify threw at me, for some reason. It's not like I know the rest.
Now, I'm outta here. You kids enjoy yourself. Don't get hurt!
Heh heh. Killing joke are hard core/punk/metal. Or atleast influenced metal. Metallica seemed to think so. Others covered them as well. Anthrax maybe?
Yeah, you really need to listen to 10,000 Days with oppressively loud headphones. That thunder crack usually makes me jump.
I liked the first two albums well enough, but I didn’t pay attention when they released Ænima. I had mostly moved on from metal and was into punk and house/trance. But a friend who worked at a record store gifted me a copy, and I was impressed by what they’d done in the new album. Forty Six & 2 is still the gold standard for a Tool song, IMO.
I still don’t listen to much metal these days. I have all the Baroness albums, most of the Mastodon, and some Sword. I know that’s skimming the surface of the modern metal scene, but I don’t care about being a music snob the way I did in high school or college.
I am pumped for this new Tool album.
Ha they sold out after MoP but good point. The ep wasn’t bad, atleast not pop metal
Still no. Its related, just as blues rock is related, but its an island of its own unique style (imho shitty sound and musicianship). KJ is not easy to pin down because of their varied song styles even on same albums, which is part of their influential appeal.
This is always a fun reference:

Randomly saw these guys playing at the local bowling alley the other night. The scene was kind of hilarious, but they actually put on a solid show.
