I’m hoping he goes to Houston for Tari Eason and some picks. Not sure that they’d let Eason go, but I can dream.
I think Fox isn’t nearly as valuable as his 26.5 points per game would suggest on it’s face.

Lakers made a good move. I would like to see them make the conference finals. Play doesn’t look likely, but just as a fan I would like that.
Fun night out to see the Nuggets in person. Jokic with a quiet triple double, per usual.

Nice seats!
Excellent marquis win by the best team in the league, your Cleveland Cavaliers, over the best team in the West, OKC, to snap their 15 game win streak.
Love this multifaceted style of ball the Cavs are playing right now - bigs, guard play, crazy good ball movement.
Can the sixers just join the g league already - absolutely pathetic organization……nice how PG last night said he was bored playing the 5 position. NN should just quit before he gets fired. Then morey….then josh should sell the team. So done.
I’ve always kinda liked the Sixers, but I’m fine with their demise. It leaves a hole on the Eastern playoffs that the Pistons can fill. They were within a Beasley miss to taking the Warriors to overtime on Thursday. They got back to beating the teams they should in a win against the Raptors tonight.
If Cade isn’t an all star it’s rigged! The Pistons are in the thick of the playoff hunt and he’s the biggest part of that. He’s got a pretty good game and has stepped it up this season.
Bickerstaff has been a far better coach than that money taking Wiliams. Monty straight up stole money from the Pistons, that dude sucked. Losing Ivey hurt, just as he’d been playing his best ball of his career. But, Hardaway, Harris, and Beasley have been taking up the slack.
I watch every Pistons game, this season has been a lot more enjoyable. As has been mentioned, the trade chatter is fierce this season. They owe a first and can’t trade any past that, but yet I see “trades” constantly proposed. I’m hoping they make the playoffs, get some experience, draft pick conveys and we see what the market looks like in the summer.
Most of the pundits have them as the axis of any number of trades. Langdon has done a good job of situating them with cap space and expiring contracts. I hope they stay pat and see what the future of the roster will bring.
Kings are on a 7 game streak! Christie better be careful, he might end up an NBA coach. Its crazy that a coach can make that kind of difference.

Knicks playing the Sixers, in Philly. Late in the 4th quarter in a close game, there was a significant "MVP" chant as Brunson went to the line. That's fucking embarrassing, lol
Cavs vs Thunder tonight while Boston circles the drain. :the_finge
sounds like philly is losing its edge. hopefully the iggles faithful can spit on and sucker punch some rams fans outside the Linc on sunday and get things back on track.
That game last night was painful to watch. wtf is going on with the C’s?Quote:

Remembered the Cavs-Thunder game was on last night a little too late, tuned in at the end of the first, but the game was already over.
Interested to see if Jimmy Butler gets dealt, not sure I understand his moves but I would be surprised if he gets extended (if he gets traded - I think teams are weary of his $50 mil player option for a 35 yo guard that is frequently hurt/checked out in the regular season). I read blood in the garden over the summer which gave me a new perspective on Riley. I think he’s handled this situation well, while Butler has looked unprofessional and has likely hurt his resign value.
Thunder got mad about losing to the Cavs last week and it showed last night.
The 3 point shot existed for all of those eras.
And TBH, the 3 point shot is great for basketball IMO. This idea that the game isn't good anymore is ridiculous, I think the game is better than it ever has been. Defenses are better than ever and offenses are too. Players are better than ever as well.
Getting rid of the 3 point shot would make everything boring as shit. It would certainly elevate the stature of players like Embiid, but it would not make for better basketball to watch.
I'm not advocating for it, just relaying what Stern said the other day.
I wouldn't mind moving it back a bit. The court is so small as is with these monsters out there, if you're going to shoot from downtown, let's at least make it challenging. I think the mid-range shot has all but gone away in the current game. It's either chuck it up from the parking lot or let the bigs work underneath.
I wouldn't mind the 3 being harder, but the court is only so big and the 3 from the corner -- already the easiest 3 -- can't get any further away.
The long distance 2 is certainly disappearing, with good reason and Demar Derozan notwithstanding, but people are still shooting way more than just dunks and 3s.

Yea people still shoot free throws too!
I think the graphs shared above support the premise that the majority of shots taken in the 2020s NBA are 3s and shots close to the basket (dunks and lay-ups - high efficiency shots). And the stats back that up.
I agree with Danno that the NBA is pretty awesome right now! SO much talent! to those that would like to turn back the clock, the NBA was pretty boring in the late 90s - early 00s, with scoring was at an all time low, basically since the introduction of the shot clock, and viewership was down. The NBA was in a crisis at this time, and the result was removing hand-checking in the 2004-05 season. This got the NBA out of this funk and allowed for the explosive guard/wing play we see in today's NBA. And I wouldn't advocate to allow hand-checking again.
I'd credit the Spurs and Stef Curry, and moneyball statisticians for the rise of the 3-pt attempts.
Would I like to see the mid-range return? sure, but the NBA is very statistical driven now and why shot a mid-range 2 when a 3 gets you more points and is almost as efficient (maybe more so if taken from the corner, or wing spot)
I'm not a huge fan of watching teams jack up threes but I think the bigger issue is the refs sucking and the amount of stoppages on national broadcasts.
Jokic is such a treat to watch

This.
Shoot all the threes you want but the constant stopping of the game is brutal. The NBA would be rad with these athletes today if they went back to late 80’s/early 90’s style calls.
Remember when a banger was a real asset? Shit, most of my childhood NBA hero’s would be fouled out in the first quarter now. Rodman, Dumars, Barkley, Mutumbo, Ratliffe, Bowen? Shit, even dudes like Isaiah and Stockton would be 4 fouls deep by halftime these days. We wonder why nobody plays defense.

I think something that would make the NBA a lot better would be to take away half the timeouts. It’d be like soccer. The players have to make the decisions as it flows in the game. The coach can be yelling on the sidelines, but that’s it. Think of Curry’s double bang 3.
I’m fine with moving back the three point line about [emoji637][emoji638] inches and eliminating the corner three so the arc / distance is consistent. That alone would have a significant impact.
Jokic has more triple doubles in 3 quarters than any other team has total.
Joker is pretty good at basketball.
^^^ And yet sga is the mvp? I don't get it.
Van Gundy said the other night, the only logical reason a voter could choose anyone other than Jokic is voter fatigue.
Can’t quote on this broken site, but if Floater thinks you can’t play defense anymore he should watch some Kings games and see what Keon Ellis is up to.
Cruiser, if you look at all-in-one advanced stats, like eRAPTOR, LEBRON, or EPM, they have SGA and Jokic neck-and-neck, and well in front of third place. It’s not crazy to consider him for MVP. Jokic’s offense is better but SGA makes up on defense.
Joker with 35/22/17 and an 80 foot one handed three point buzzer beater. Second ever 35/20/15 game in NBA history.
Also SGA is killing it. But Jokic is above him in almost every advanced stat and is in the top 3 in points, rebounds, assists and 3 point %.
I agree with Van Gundy but SGA, while not super close to Joker (2 points behind in PER for example), is well in front of third place.
I watched the Nuggets-Kings game last night. That shot was insane. I angered my wife for "yelling in her ear" as I shouted to my son to get down here as quickly as possible. The fact that Jokic just does not give a fuck about percentages as he's right on the line of leading the league is endearing. This isn't even the least likely shot he's put up as a heave this year. There were a couple where he volleyball-style slap/punched a ball from full court as there wasn't enough time on the the clock to get off a shot (though I think one didn't count as an attempt as it was still ruled after the buzzer).
My other favorite part of his performance, though, was in the 4th when the Nuggets suddenly went cold, Doug McDermott got insanely hot, and the big Denver lead evaporated, Jokic quit trying to get open shots for his teammates for a few possessions, went into the post, and worked Sabonis until he had him backed down to put up one of his automatic little baby hooks. It was pretty much inevitable as soon as the Kings help defender backed off to prevent the kickout. I really think that anyone who complains about the "modern" NBA offense should watch Denver and see how their complaints hold up.
PER is not a reliable stat. https://hoopshype.com/lists/advanced...res-analytics/
