EC don’t take your skis back East, just take your boots and rent if you have to go skiing, although since moving west decades ago I find it hard to ski when I go back as much as I love to ski but then again I’m talking about the Poconos.

As far as the ghee goes, skiing has been pretty damn good. I was able to hit it this afternoon and at times felt like I was out there alone. The coverage is hanging in there and anytime you can see the sun at targhee is a bonus.

Looks windy up there.
Nice shots.

Very interesting to see current conditions in Granite...not much white in there, commonly skied runs are barely descernible. For that matter all the shots are cool ! I talked with a couple waffle workers who pretty much said they were leaving gear at the bottom for now.

In other news, I taught a day of a season-long Rec 2 class today. Resounding collapse and propagation on the Nov crust in 3 pits. Plus 2cm surface hoar on the top. It's gonna be hide under the bed time when we get another slab on top of that mess.

I was just saying to my buddy "Now is a GREAT time for an avy class!"

And the ghee is still skiing/riding really good right now. Granted might have to actually tune the skis/ touch up the edges a bit, but damn for anyone outside of the Rockies it would be one of the best days of the season. LETITSNOW

Exactly! I had some friends in from out of town so I took them up Mary’s, still some soft snow to be found. One of them actually said that it was their best powder run this year, it’s all in perspective. I’m using this pre holiday lull to get the legs in shape before real winter hits.

Hey guys, I realize this is a long shot but here it goes…

The situation: I use my PTO every year to ski everyday with my 8 year old and my fiancé. We live in Pinedale and all 3 of us get season passes at White Pine. Unfortunately due to lack of snow, White Pine is not looking like it’ll open anytime soon. I work in Jackson and have access to a corporate pass for the ghee, I also am a paid patroller at White Pine on the weekends. I’m pretty sure I can get a discounted ghee day pass since I patrol and I can use the corporate pass for the fiancé….I’m curious if anyone here might have a hook-up for a pass for my little girl. I know it’s a reach, but we’ve already spent our pass budget for WP season passes for the girls and the trip over for a day or two has its costs too. It wouldn’t be a huge deal to wait out the snow, but outside of summer, my daughter is only here for her Christmas break (divorced). If anyone here has a hook-up on a discounted pass, I can pay in lots of free beer (perk of my weekday job). Thanks in advance for the read.

Edited to add, I could also throw in a sick pair of BD 01 tele bindings if that’s your thing

Anytime between the 27th-8th, not greedy even just a day would be sick, just don’t want her to get skunked during her break due to a late winter. She skied 18 days with us last winter despite spending the school year with a non-skiing mom, she looks forward to it every year. We were really hoping our resort would eventually fill out, but our last ski patrol email chain was not optimistic about opening anytime soon and the forecast is bleak for us unless something changes.
