edit: terrible pic but best I could do short notice. The wrap was supposed to look like patina I suppose. Also had a logo on it but could not read it, thought that was the worst advertisement ever, you cant figure out what is on the side of the truck.

That is a lot of stuff on that Titan. Even if they are headed to the river for two days. They should have put a couple bikes on there for the full effect. That was a bike rack on the back?
I believe it is a bike rack. I didn’t even notice it was there until I looked at the pics when I got home. I would say they’re on the way to the beach. There’s a NJ state park nearby that lets you drive on the sand if you’re properly equipped and have fishing gear but I don’t see any poles on there.Quote:

Question: Are you more of a poser if you leave mud on your truck? I tend to run my trucks through the wash when I get them excessively dirty for a number of reasons but maybe I should keep it gnar for street cred?

Absolutely a poser for leaving mud on for days. 2 days max until it’s washed off. I’m planning on 20 years out of my T4R so I take care of it. Walking into Lowe’s yesterday and a 2500 rolled by covered in well dried mud. All I could think of is how he probably spun out on some farmers field to throw mud all over it thinking it looks cool. Yes. And I guess moose are a huge problem down in Moab like Adironrider is talking about. I bet 90% of people with RTTs have not seen a moose. Hey, I had an RTT when they were new around here and I got a screaming deal from the guy wanting to bring them to market. It was a pain in the ass.
There was that one time at a festival when a drunk guy walked into the side of our tent in the dark, so there's that. All the animals I've been around in hundreds of nights of tent camping seem to have known better than that though; and if you keep food out of the tent, mice won't bother either. I kind of get it for middle-of-nowhere dispersed camping, where you can't always find a flat tent spot on a dirt road in the dark.
I have an RTT on top of my motorcycle trailer. Just spent 10 days in it in Moab and Sedona. It is bigger than a king sized bed, and more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. Setup takes a few minutes. Much easier to level a trailer than stake out a tent on rocks. We had some pretty big winds and a little rain and the tent faired much better than some ground tents we saw that got shredded by the wind. It is nice to be strapped down to a heavy trailer. RTTs are generally much stronger material than your ground tents.
I see roof top tents making a lot more sense done that way (attached to a utility trailer) than on top of someone's Subaru daily IMO.
Lots of good reasons for a RTT. Putting a RTT, rack and a bunch of stuff in a rack which raises the center of gravity makes no sense to me on a vehicle that is supposed to be “wheeling”.
Hey, there are reasons for them. I've had many good nights of sleep in an RTT. The pain in the ass factor outweighed owning one for me though. Just like my 90% haven't seen a moose comment, I bet 90% of the owners are not getting the benefit of them other than looking "overlandy". And this thread is for scoring overlandy points.
Well, duh, but for all the “micro sharing” and “fractional use” folderol apps nobody has bothered to come up with a reasonable and affordable solution for having the gear the 10% of the time you actually use it. The moose was in a NPS campground, not exactly rugged wilderness :rolleyes2

And music festivals are one of the best reasons to own a RTT. I loved it for that. But drunk dudes still run into the ladder. The last festival I used one at, I had to bribe a dude with gatorade to wake up and stop leaning on the ladder so we could get down. He was wearing pee pants.
