Finished building this up today finally after waiting on some Ridewrap. The frame is actually a loaner as I’ve had a MegaT frame in order for a few months which won’t come until November (which I will probably cancel as we will be carrying the WeAreOne frames when they come out).

Replaced the der cable on my 5.5 it is so worth doing because the internal routing of a continuous 5 ft length of cable can have so much friction, it is probably even more worth changing than a bike that has 3 short sections of cable,
everything was working fine but the new cable is much easier on the thumb mussels which you don't realize till you change it ... the friction sneaks up on you

Beauty. How's the setup on that Mezzer going? The travel change on mine was the very first time I opened a fork and it was a bit stress-inducing.
In this vein, anyone have a recommendation for prescription bike glasses? I’m using my prescription sunglasses or glasses depending on light but keeping them in place is a challenge.Quote:

Thats kind of how i got on to julbo. A guide friend need rx sunnies so he ended up with the julbo trek photochromatic. I really liked the fit and features but i dont need a prescrip. Not sure they still make the trek but that was one of julbos options that could be prescription. Nothing bad to say about them. Zebra photchromatic was the lense. Great for skiing and good for biking until the sun starts to drop then theyre not quite light enoughQuote:

Great! Thanks Evan. My julbo trek fit great so i bought another julbo model with that same lense and theyre too wide and slide down my nose. Online sunny purchases can be funny. No sweat with those rockbros though, theyre only 30 or 35cad and free shipping. Nice that theyre a lighter tint than the julbo zebra lense. They could be a good combo. Rockbros and my julbo trek. I found the bigger lense rockbros for an extra $5 so i might try those. A little more coverage for biking. Hope the fit is okQuote:

I just bought a tekton 1.6-16 nm wrench along with a set of 1/4" drive hex bits which are surprisingly hard to find in stores. Also a 1/2 drive 8mm to get crank bolts loose.
Have had my oakley photochromic glasses for like a month now. Been riding until dark/past dark most days lately because of a silly distance/vert challenge I'm doing and they are pretty good for that. Complaints would be that they don't get very dark and are not great in bright sunlight. They also have some glare issues when looking in the general direction of the sun and then with lights when it's darker. Maybe an anti-glare or whatever coating would interfere with the transitioney deal? They do take awhile to go back to "clear" so there's a period there where you notice it's borderline too dark at the end of the day, but once they're back to clear I can keep them on. In the forest, when it's overcast, and then even at full dark they're pretty good. If I'd paid retail for them (which i think is like $260) I'd be pretty annoyed but for $100ish they're acceptable. Might try picking up something like the trail prizm lens for them for rides during the day.

Shocked how loose my BB became after a month or so of riding. Not sure if it was ever torqued down correctly to begin with.
I wouldn’t loosen with a torque wrench...
It might be urban legend but I was taught it could mess with calibration.

Additionally, you tighten a fastener to 80lb ft, it takes more than that to break it loose.

I installed a Sunrace 11-46 cassette in place of a Shimano 11-42. Staying with the 30T chainring. A little more low end and better cog spacing.
The old chain was a little too short, so pulled out a spare new one from the parts bin. Keeping the old one for use on a road bike, eventually (measures out like new).
Also some tire changes on the same bike: new DHF front, and moved the existing High Roller II from the front to the rear, replacing a worn out rear. The HR II side knobs are undercutting, but center looks great - going to see if this is worthwhile for use on the rear or if the side knobs are just going to tear off shortly.
I wear an 11 in almost every shoe and have a bit wider forefoot. Hellions were far too tight out of the box to even wear around the house. Called RC and they directed me to a 11.5 Powerline. Showed up and fit great out of the box. Have a couple rides on them. Fit is great, feet don't have any tingling, sole is a little stiffer than Freerider Pros, not quite as grippy. I don't mind the less grip...a bit easier to reposition but still holds on. If they're durable, I think it's a winner.Quote:

Just got another set of the OneUp carbon bars for my full suspension bike. I've had a set on my hard tail for a few months now. I really think the flex they've built into helps kill the harshness just a bit. It's subtle, I don't notice them flexing but it does seem to take the edge off and it feels like less vibrations hitting the hands.
I've been having some issues with my hands going numb lately on long descents. I think the main thing is that my bars were too low putting too much pressure on my hands. Unfortunately my fork steerer tube is cut pretty short so raising my stem wasn't an option. I went with the higher rise option and even though it’s only a 10 or 15mm difference higher than my previous bars so far it’s made a big improvement
Ive been curious about the one up bar. They have a high rise too so i may try one. Ive switched everything for hand/wrist/forearm relief after getting hand numbness. Back to 31.8 aluminum bar, raised the front with a short stack deity stem(gave me an extra 5mm height) and 10mm more fork travel which also allowed me to use the bike in the low setting.Quote:

Have you tried the SQlab 30X bar? I get some elbow pain and switching to this bar helped a bit since it has more backsweep and puts your hands in a more neutral position. I also just put on push on grips instead of lock ons because I'm thinking that getting rid of the hard plastic core will be beneficial.Quote:

I grabbed a Problem Solvers bottle cage height adapter too. I originally wanted to use it to fit a small (20oz) bottle on the lower mount of my size 2 ridEgg frame, and it looked like it might work, but it would have taken another height shim and the bottle would have rubbed the frame both front and back. But mounting it on the upper points lets me use a large (24 oz) bottle up there. There's actually about 5mm clearance front & rear, despite what the photo shows.

Ive kind of gone the other way with less sweep to fit my shoulders. The bars with more sweep were the first thing i noticed wrist pain. We all fit a bit different i guess. Companies probably should offer different sweep bars. I do want to try an sqlabs saddle though. They seem to make quality stuff.Quote:

Since I’m a jong and bought my wife a used bike with 29 wheels in a 27.5 shock I bought some new 27.5 wheels so I can ride without fear of locking up the front tire on the fork bridge.
29r wheels are nice dt Swiss package. Not sure if I’ll use for backups for now and save em for a future build or sell em off.
