We need more people like BMS around!
The BC terrain in Tahoe does suck, there are pigeons everywhere, you really should wait for at least 5 days after a storm before you go out in the BC and "scrape" the freshies, causing small slides is stupid when you could wait and cause big slides (!!), and North Tahoe is blown-out, washed-up, and has-been. Completely agree! Everyone should go to Whistler.

Quoting this for emphasis. Resorts live and die by the holidays. A good 70% of the revenue comes in from Xmas eve until MLK day. That’s when the vacationers come and spend frivolously. And as sad as it is the amount of people skiing during the later season weekends in March and April aren’t the ones spending the money. They are the diehards no doubt but diehards don’t bring in enough green to justify staying open.Quote:

Mammoth and squaw are the best resorts in CA for the skillz of steep skiing.
I know you're just a dumb troll and I should know better, but as others have pointed out, if you're having a bad time in California (and in Tahoe, of all places), then you are doing it wrong. Snow, or no snow, there is no shortage of things to do here. Like Whistler, this place is a freaking paradise. I'm glad you scored a good winter up there, but BC has shit snow years just like everyone else. If you'd spent two unemployed months here the season before (when the likes of JT and Cody, who still live here btw, were blowing up social media with epic Tahoe lines), you'd be measuring all future ski seasons against that.Quote:

But all the effort for every resort to make a strip of snow by Thanksgiving, and some making it happen in October, against the wishes of Mother Nature is just insane. Especially in a sport that will be effected by climate change.
Vail owns three resorts. In a year like this, a few runs at Heave for thanksgiving should be fine. Pack em in. Blowing out at KW is just wasting money. Save that for keeping a few lifts going in spring.

Don’t get me wrong. I’ll ski a WROD if I’m around. I around next week. I’ll get out. But hoping for something more. If things pan out, that WROD at KW would have been better placed as a pile to fill in a few gaps. Or if we get real lucky, build a feature.

Stoke...more like Smoke. Its been horrendous around SF and the Bay...especially today. Closest I am to skiing is getting the family's ski shit sorted and attempting to drum up some TR stoke from last season. Damn kids growing too fast.
But at least my mind is there...

Kit Carson traverse/KC bowl. A solid blue. Opening Friday, for the season.
NB: 580 between CC and Rose Hwy is closed this Sat & Sun morning.
Dunno if any lift-tix specials.
HEAVENLY is opening Friday too. Snowmaking on East Peak, they say.
Assuming access from Gondi (parking is a hassle).
Hope for a coupla runs off Dipper lift. But maybe just one under Tamarack lift?
NORTHSTAR on Friday also. Not much info up tho.
Usually they have Skid Trail, off Vista lift, as wrod.
On cams can see beginner area by Hot Springs Lodge has snow.
ALPINE MEADOWS will have Kangaroo lift running. Not so bad under there. Could be worse (subway/meadow).
Man oh man. We come to SQUAW VALLEY.
As far as I can tell, only First Ventures carpet will be running (...and you thought Gold coast was bad...[emoji53])
I remember them having a wrod off Red Dog lift for a few seasons. That rocked!!

All through therapy, i was fired up to make Friday at Squaw my ‘return’ day. Looking at the webcam today, my fire for tomorrow has faded.
That little strip and the associated clusterfack, I will wait and heal a bit more.
