Ah ok thanks. Yeah I meant to buy them. Thought JR might be a tiny local shop our tool guy wasn't aware of. But looking at those links, we did buy one or two last year but people didn't like them as much as the homemade ones some reason.
I have never heard of a Chingadera and the word doesn't goggle very well ?
They use the Pulaski up here which googles to Ed Pulaski a US forest ranger who invented the tool in 1911 but the pulaski blades are narrower with axe head on one side
the tools my dad made from SS I am pretty sure he copied from what he seen farm works use in SE asia for centuries, he made his blades a little longer/ a little narrower with the ring shaped to fit a pick handle

Thinking about the “zone zero” around our structures. And thinking about long term maintenance. And looking for thoughts and feelings.
Eight years ago, I cleared/grubbed around most of our house and garage (about 5 feet) and installed gravel (w/o fines). We didn’t install borders/edging and intentionally didn’t install landscaping fabric under the gravel. We are finally getting plant growth through some areas of the gravel. We’re dealing with the plant growth as best as we can, but it’s got me wondering about a better method.
At first, I was thinking about having concrete poured over that entire area, but a contractor friend told me it’s a “big pour” that’d be pretty expensive. I am currently considering installing borders (organic material(?)), installing more gravel (some has migrated and we didn’t have coverage around some structures), and eventually (maybe?) get paving stones, thinner broken concrete, bricks, or something else(?) that will not kill our budget. So gravel now and more impermeable and non-combustible material (for weed suppression) later embedded-ish into/onto the gravel?
What have others done? I’ve seen a lot of pictures online, listened to recommendations, and observed friends installing zone 0 gravel, some without fabric and some with fabric, but I don’t know many that are at the current stage we are at where plants are finally growing through the gravel. And I have not found online resources that get into those weeds (heh!), as most are just trying to get the messaging out about the importance of zone zero and using noncombustible mulch.

Where are you located. Our Zone 0 is mostly shallow gravel with some exposed earth. It stays bare because it doesn't get wet after the snow melts. What does grow is easy enough pull and the inspector says a few "weeds"--columbine, fireweed, penstemon are ok. Northern Sierra. Things might be different where you are. I don't see how edging will help. I've not used fabric but what I hear about, the weeks eventually grow through.

Most areas around our structures, it’s sweet peas that grow out of the gravel, which are not too hard to pull. But we have one area next to our garage that’s becoming a meadow. That grass basically grows all the way up to the structure (growing through the gravel). I usually weedwack the general area (including the gravel area) 2-3 times during the growing season to keep it under control (I have burned it, too, but not immediately next to the structure). I missed the last weedwack episode in June this year because I was having fun. So today, we pulled and trimmed with garden sheers the dead grass as close as possible to the gravel/ground, which was a pita. Now, it’s still a flashy fuel that goes right up against our structure, it is just very short now so flame heights won’t be too bad. It takes a fair bit of effort to make it work.
I have never had a good experience with landscape cloth. Grew up with it. Had a few rentals that had it. Pita and lots of micro plastics.
