This tour was a reminder for me of why I feel so blessed to live in Co. There was no Blower Pow, and despite the highly unstable snowpack we had a super mellow day out the mountain with friends.

That avvy crown and debris in Corner Pocket was sobering. Had it as an "unlikely" possibility in my mind as the day began. Glad we kept our exposure to X Y and Z purely theoretical, as well. Had a lot of fun on pretty safe terrain.

North Chutes skied well- wind hammered up top, fluffy in the middle and a touch heavy down low.
90's skied nice, although getting tracked out in the lower sections.

1st Creek was fucking awesome today. No wind and super soft snow never sucks. Back at it again on Sunday.
Nice. KC has a nose for finding the best snow at Bert. You guys must have found about the only pocket of super soft snow - everybody else I talked to that was out yesterday along I-70 said the snow was slabby and very slow, and skied like much less than what was on the ground.Quote:

it was dumping since I arrived at 8:30 this morning. there's a good 6-10 inches fresh almost everywhere (except bottom of floral, but who cares)

Busy up there today? Many tracks in the old ski area stuff just from the top of the pass? Trying to figure out where to go tomorrow...
the winds were WILD in the morning, let up a bit in the afternoon. Yeah the pic doesn't really give it justice, just was an easy screenshot from my footage. But in the trees it was nice and fluffy (especially leeward north facing aspects), not as much up high.
not busy at all, my and my buddy were one of probably 10 cars to be in the lot all day (i.e. even the east facing slope next to the parking lot is still plenty fresh)
