Early on Christmas Eve did on tour with a good tribe of folks:

Snow Conditions were all over the board, Chalky, DOC, but also light and cold Pow in the trees...

This tour was a reminder for me of why I feel so blessed to live in Co. There was no Blower Pow, and despite the highly unstable snowpack we had a super mellow day out the mountain with friends.

...stoked!
Here's to a SNOWY 2011
Wildman,
Great meeting you and loved the air at the bottom of 110s. Lets get out again soon.
I love the hat Rontele. I've never skied Bert....who wants to show me around sometime? Please form a line in a calm manner...not all at once ;)
Ronotele?
rondynafit?
rontele is the most stylish bc skier out there.
Fixed it for ya. Great meeting you and Josh. What a fun procession of jews that turned out to be! Here are a few more taken before my camera went kaput.

Thanks for fixing that. It was great meeting you all, and let me know next time you are heading up. Id be glad to join.
Its probably a good thing that there is no evidence of my air in the 110's...

good crew and nice photos!
I am pretty much the best dressed in the front range.
Wilder, awesome photos -- and a killer high profile tumble. Thanks for both. Great partners, great day. Good way to get to know someone.
That avvy crown and debris in Corner Pocket was sobering. Had it as an "unlikely" possibility in my mind as the day began. Glad we kept our exposure to X Y and Z purely theoretical, as well. Had a lot of fun on pretty safe terrain.
Anyone going to be up there tomorrow? Green jacket and Yellow pants with a partner wearing all blue
suck it! be up dere manana. hungover & ready to rip! yall a bunch of cha chas!
anyone heading up tomorrow?
I'll be there around 6am! Red pickup truck. I'm hoping it's going to be good.
Puke happens. Looks like Bear, as if he hasn't been humiliated enough this season on the internetz. If he had eaten one of my breakfast burritos all this woulda been avoided. But I spose he can blame Wildman and me for putting in such a brutal track. :fmicon:
Here is evidence of telepariah charging/ setting the skintrack from hell...

The best dressed advanced intermediate resting so he does not puke in said skintrack.

anyone go up today? Couldn't take off this morning but i'm heading up in a little bit for some quick laps
North Chutes skied well- wind hammered up top, fluffy in the middle and a touch heavy down low.
90's skied nice, although getting tracked out in the lower sections.
How was today?
1st Creek was fucking awesome today. No wind and super soft snow never sucks. Back at it again on Sunday.
Nice. KC has a nose for finding the best snow at Bert. You guys must have found about the only pocket of super soft snow - everybody else I talked to that was out yesterday along I-70 said the snow was slabby and very slow, and skied like much less than what was on the ground.
I was up yesterday morning around 6am, met one of the biggest asshole up there. "I don't need any avy gear. It's a ski at your own risk and if it's my time to die, it's my time. And if it's my friends, it's god's time to take us." And that's all i have to say about that douche.
But I skied floral and west side, which was nice in spots, snow was really slow, and damn it was cold! I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good day....
^^Wow. You should post a description so we know who to avoid.
I was the asshole snowboarder who forgot his boots on friday. ended up kicking it old school and riding and touring in my Sorels. That was fun...
any reports from today?
The wife and I skied into 2011 last night from high up on the west side of the pass. It was pretty flippin' cold...negative 20 in the parking lot and even colder as we got up above the weather station. Our champagne was freezing and turned to slush and we had rime forming on our faces/hair, but the headlamp skiing was about boot-top deep. A great way to ring in the new year.

You'll probably see more on this a bit later with a bunch of other December stuff, but I thought it appropriate to post here.
Edit to say: That's right, it's Andre...really classy.
thought about your trip last night Jbski....glad you got up and had fun.
It was a good time. I hope you and the wife had a good celebration as well. I'll be up in your area tomorrow, so feel free to give me a ring if you want to go out and make some turns.
any updates? Hows the snow?
it was dumping since I arrived at 8:30 this morning. there's a good 6-10 inches fresh almost everywhere (except bottom of floral, but who cares)
freshies were had...

thanks for the report. how were the winds? snow in that pick looks pretty wind-affected. For 6-10" (which I'm not debating), looks like you're not sinking in much - so I'm guessing it's kind of wind-heavy?
Busy up there today? Many tracks in the old ski area stuff just from the top of the pass? Trying to figure out where to go tomorrow...
the winds were WILD in the morning, let up a bit in the afternoon. Yeah the pic doesn't really give it justice, just was an easy screenshot from my footage. But in the trees it was nice and fluffy (especially leeward north facing aspects), not as much up high.
not busy at all, my and my buddy were one of probably 10 cars to be in the lot all day (i.e. even the east facing slope next to the parking lot is still plenty fresh)
