Saw him on the High - T Sunday as well. I couldn't even watch!

I think you could definitely ski the 196 at your size. They are so much more nimble than their dimensions may suggest, so as long as you aren't trying to ski a lot of tight trees and chutes, you should be ok. That being said, I wouldn't shy away from skiing the 186, either. You shouldn't get any tip dive on the ski as long as you carry speed. At slow speeds they don't really plane quite as well as they do at full speed.
Any 196 shipped to Germany?
I'd love to see a side shot of the new tip if anyone can spare a minute.
hello,
the renegades shape makes it pivoty and in the same time the hard flex is very stable.
I have the feeling it's more the thick of the core, specially on tip and tail, who mades this hard and dampening flex, than the weigth of fibberglass.
by the way on the renegade's notice it's write there are 3 layers of Q45 fiberglass each side. is it a triaxial fibber? and what total weight in 0 and 45 degrees way's.
with friends we are trying to build a renegade 2cm wider and we don't know at all wich fibbers to use,
4frnt can you help us please?
"you're trying to build a rengade that's 142 underfoot? that's just stupid."
I'm convince you can apply the renegade concept to 95mm to 150mm wide underfoot, with shallows
adjusrements.
it's basically the future of ski
why make a ski widder?
basically we don,t have all the capacities of Hoji, riding faces at high speed and very steep ( and dangerous ) terrains.
2cm widder offer you this imbelievable pivot/stability/float.
without the same requirements, that's all.
more cruising, less straights!
if you can't make a 120+ waisted ski float you're doing it wrong.
I'm sure others compagnies copy the good one very easily, specially on race: they open the ski sandwich, analyse titanal, fibers, and wood.
for freeride stuff, fortunatly what they want first it's not what there is inside the ski, but the marvellous athlete who make us dreaming, isn'it?
thanks Foreal.
lotus 138 has only 70 cm of effective edge, too much rockers and not this magique association of mellow reverse camber/35m sidecut who makes the Renegade so good with the stiff flex.
if it was the case, renegade shape + drake construction, I think I would be french rep for years, or just be the owner of several pair of 138 for the low
price they asked at the begining!!!
I've 138 and renegades. Very different skis. And BTW I do not believe that here in superdry europe I would neeed a fatter renegade
lucky you are!
in europe the only thing we need for now it,s a paire of grivel!!!
by the way, are you sure fisher at boots will have a vacuum model with dyna inserts?
thanks, i will look the 2013 cochise pro, or titan carbon or...
TLT5 HOJI !
where are my skis!! the snow is falling and i'm getting antsy.....
Ah the new mixed child between the renegade and the EHP is gonna be the ski for nect year. No quiver is complete but drooling over a pair of new skis when one is sitting brand new in the wrokshop un-mounted or even skied is the confirmation that I am in the right place. Thanks TGR for making it all seem sane!!
^^ The Hoji!!
hoji and ren should be the perfect quiver. the main thing i think is cool is how the hoji is just a smaller version of the ren, so there won't be that adjustment period switching between skis that feel totally different. stoked.
Shipped! Also works as a Viagara substitute. I'm definitely rocking a ragin boner
Agreed. Not saying that they are the same, but just similar in all of the ski/rocker combinations out there. I'd be interested in your opinion of the two. Maybe would help my mount decision as I just received notice that my 196 Rens will be here in a few days!
To note I have been riding F3 R1 192 cm 138's for some time now. This ski is probablly the most similar Lotus rocker geometry from what I have seen of the Ren on the intraweb.
Stoked.
updates? where are my skis!!!
My pair of 196's Renegades arrived on Monday, 12/5, complete with birth certificate (I kid you not). Super impressed with them from an aesthetic standpoint. All the 10-12 hour days people are putting in are incredibly appreciated.
I ended up with #19 of who knows how many. I currently have them standing against the wall in my bedroom and I think my GF may be getting jealous.
Now for a harder question that I haven't seen a good answer to: with a Sqauwlpine Meadows season pass, is it worth it to go for a slackcountry binding like the dukes or just put up with my trekkers?
Bmath, congrats on the skis. I'm trying to find a pair of the 196 but can't locate a pair. If I do find some I may need to purchase sight unseen.
Can you post the actual length of your pair. Are they a true 196? I'm assuming so as the 186 measures just about 185/6.
Waiting for some 196 reviews, especially compared to 186.
So stoked that the 196s are finally shipping, god. I am so ridiculously pumped for them to arrive.
I sent an email to 4frnt and they said that all of the 196's would be shipped by Christmas. hope that's true.
fkna thanks so much most of my pictures suck and truth will make fun of me:wink: but super stoked for the opportunity to check out the coolness that is going on off west temple in the 2900 block.
Way cool to get your growing up in Sandy perspective of slc and it's quirks and sweetness of the goods that is why most of us are here and the whole cycle of park rat to powder and who knows what kind of hover skis or the possibilites of the next generations of snow sliding tools.
This is so cool it's worthy of it's own thread will call or email for details remember most:wink:

Good to meet the skifishbum legend in person!
That first photo is of pallets of skis, bindings and boots we are recycling as part of a partnership with SIA, Burton and REI in the Salt Lake area.
We'll start a proper thread on it once it's up and running.
Right arm they throw that legend moniker around sillytude I prefer eccentric skibum of possible noteworthiness or something to that effect myself.
Once I can ski hopin to get on a renegade bet that 196 would tear up some wolvie or ivory flakes bonker on down in a few mindblowing turns type terrain
I may just have a spair dynaduke plate for something cool like that:wink:.
Like I said anything WPS or I can do to assist you in the future I'm stoked on.
as is sfotex on his new sticks
