I think men competing alongside women is fun to watch. The USA 4x400M mixed relay team set a world record on the first day of track and field. Even though the get off my lawn crowd don't like it, these are great events:

I believe there's an entirely separate 50 meter warmup pool somewhere behind the scenes. At least there was in Indy for Trials.

That topped my list of events for the day. I don't know shit about Judo outside of do not end up on your back... but France coming back to win it in after being on the bleeding edge of losing was peak sports drama. I guess Abe from Japan is the best in the world and was dominating his match until the Frenchman Gaba gave him his first loss since 2019(!).

The Belgian men cyclist are definitely dudes. The camera caught them peeing at least twice, and I fast forwarded through most of the race before the last hour.

How were the lap times men vs women?

I love mixed sports. It’s cool. No need to get off my lawn unless you the dude wants to punch a woman or steal her state champ trophy

Edit: Watched the video after shit posting. Those women are fast. And sexy. I could never keep up.

It's too bad the summer and winter games are staggered. It would be nice to get the women's gymnastics and figure skating over with and not have to listen to all the drivel for another 4 years. If I were lucky I'd be dead by then. Yeah, athletes get hurt and come back. Imagine if the announcers made a weep worthy tale of redemption out of some pitcher coming back after Tommy John surgery. (There's no crying in baseball.)

And while I'm in a grumpy old man mood (ok, all the time)--when did athletes start having parents? Gordy Howe never had parents. Now they have dad road trips in the NHL. When I watched Jesse Owens on TV in 1936 embarrassing Hitler I never saw his parents. (Owens' or Hitler's)

I ended up watching that entire mixed match! It helped that I finally got around to reading through the rules so I wasn't completely ignorant about what was going on...

Shoulda done that earlier on. Anyway, the competition was awesome throughout. The only weird note was the "Dial of Destiny" used to select who would fight in the deciding "Golden Score" match. Electronic (software). Hmm.
