Were you or anyone else for that matter able to compare the GFT and Mimic XTD Pro liners? In Backland XTDs right now and everything is great aside from heel retention due to the high volume foot and low volume heel combo. Not worries about weight just heel hold and durability.Quote:

Thanks man! I ended up splurging and buying some GFTs. They might be going back, or I need to remove a crap ton of cork from them. Boot feels a full size smaller in the entirety of my foot and calf after the standard molding process (no cork added).
Hmm, that’s interesting. Mine had a ton of cork in the tongues when I got them. Took half a tube out between the two liners! Felt much better. Had to add a ton to the ankles though. The nice thing about removing cork, is you’re taking out a bunch of weight!Quote:

ONK, what's Atomics view on warranty on liners that didn't foam properly? I had a pair foamed last week in a super reputable shop here I Colorado, and a bunch of the foam blew out though the lace holes.
Me and the bootfitter both acknowledged that the squash ball size of foam that escaped was substantial, but we hoped enough foam was already distributed into the liner. But after skiing them I have one liner that is way thinner/less supportive than the other. I even tried a set of the V3 LV tongue to adjust the fit/take up some space.
The shop does not have my size in stock anymore, but do I see the HAWX XTD are in stock in NA, and willing to buy another set if that what it takes to get the right fit. Just wondering if this is something your team is seeing happen, or did I just get unlucky.
Greg I know you're foaming a bunch of Atomics, have you experienced this?
FYI I've skied exclusively in foam boots since mid 2000's. This is my second pair of Atomic Pros, multiple Surefoot liners before they got too soft, and the early years of Conformable.
We've had two failures, one bootfitter error and one faulty cartridge. In both cases Atomic USA was able to provide another liner. What liner, left or right, and what size do you need?Quote:

Bump. Looking for anyone’s experience with MIMIC Pro liner with Haglunds in a Hawx Ultra.
I got a pair of first gen Mimic professional liners from a mag on GS and am going to get them foamed next week by a good atomic bootfitter here in Aspen. I ski the Twenty TwentyTwo Hawx Ultra OneThirty in a TwentySixFive and I have haglunds that are pretty aggravated by this time of the season. Wondering if anyone has seen the foam liner help with haglunds on a Hawx? I’ve never had my heels punched and from ONK has said there’s not much extra plastic back there to work with. I’m hoping to get another season or two out my shells then jump into a Remedy or similar.

I had my heels punched on my Hawx Pro after the boots were fit/foamed as it didn’t fix the fit issue.
Long and short; if you have a haglund, you need more volume… foam doesn’t fix volume issues.
Also if you have a Haglund, Hawx aren’t the best boot; many have posted issues here.

I had Jack Rafferty in Snowmass punch the heels of my Hawx Ultra 130 S last year for haglunds/bone spurs and he was able to make a good amount of room. However, it hasn't totally fixed the issue for me. It seems like there's something about the Hawx geometry where it really drives your heel into the back of the boot when your flexing. But maybe the Mimic Pro will abate that because its holding your ankle in place so well? I'd probably get the shell punched before getting the liner foamed.
After one reversed punch, and seeing many fitters, I’m giving up on mine. Gonna try Lange Shadow, Fischer RC-four, and (can’t believe I’m saying this) the KTwo double boa monstrosity..
Thread drift, but anyone else have a good Haglunds boot for an otherwise skinny heel? My Zero Gs work great, no punch, but Mach ones somehow seem to irritate the heel.

I have really liked the S/Pro Alpha so far this season.
Get race plugs and grind the space, no point in wasting time on the consumer boots that wont be able to remedy this. You also need the boot to not overflex as you will continue to crush the haglund, alas, race boots.
Thanks lads, yeah I’ve managed [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] years in Hawx and finally realized this year, from reading recent threads, that’s it’s probably not the boot for me. Like I said - I’m trying to make them work for a little bit longer and then go all-in on a new, thicker shell and probably zipfits

If people are struggling with heel bone spurs/Haglunds, your best bet is to move into the race/race-inspired category of boots. Something like a Redster CS would solve all of this, especially if you have an Ultra foot shape. If you can wait until 25/26, there is an all-new range of boots under the Remedy and Redster TX series that will fix all of your issues. More info will drop on these boots next week.
What's the reason going this way helps? More material to work with in shaping the heel pocket? Something else?Quote:

For some reason, I can't quote posts at the moment... Not sure what the deal is.
Moving from Hawx to a Redster means you gain lots of wall thickness. This does two things: 1). provides a more stable shell construction that prevents the shell from collapsing into the foot (in this case the heel) and 2) gives the boot fitter more opportunity to effectively customize the boot. Both points really help, with the first point often being enough on its own.
I've never had an issue with the heels in the Redster CS (two pairs, mild Haglund's bumps and a bulge from Achilles repair). The heel cup is deeper and higher over the calcaneus. With the alpine Hawx Ultra and Ultra RS, I've been able to punch the heel effectively. With the Hawx Ultra XTD, I've been semi-effective in punching around the walk mode mount, but they're not perfect.
PS My bootfitting skills are pretty much maxed out getting the 96mm Redster CS to fit my wide foot; the Redster TI (narrower) or STI (narrower yet) are for people with different feet than mine. Next year's race plugs from Atomic will be narrower yet . . .
Next year's boots aren't actually any narrower, but I'll explain that next week because it will definitely be thing that comes up.
